Comments about General Brand 49mm Screw-In Rubber Lens Hood:
Product works BUT - mounting ring is somewhat deep
and will cause vignetting on any lens with a
reasonable wide angle lens. tried on a sd samsung
entry level camcorder with the 49mm hood mounted on
a 39mm to 49mm stepup ring. At full wide the hood
mounting ring causes vignetting and is present until
I zoom out about 20%. Hood does work fine, at full
wide on older sony camcorder. Also the rubber hood
is not perfectly round - appears to have taken a
'set' or has non-uniform rubber thickness, Hey
you get what you pay for!

Comments about General Brand 49mm Screw-In Rubber Lens Hood:
I've never liked those plastic lens hoods. They're cumbersome and not very attractive. The all rubber lens hood by General Brand does a great job of preventing sun flare. Moreover, it's retractable so I can roll it up and get it out of the way when I don't need it. Unlike my plastic lens hoods which I'm constantly having to take off, I leave this one on all the time.

Comments about General Brand 49mm Screw-In Rubber Lens Hood:
I use this hood on my Pentax 35mm f/2.4 and 50mm f/1.4 since both lenses are 49mm thread. It has a metal thread, which means it will last a while but also scares me because the filter threads on my lenses are plastic. I am scared to death of cross-threading the lens.
My only complaint is the hood is a tad shallow, it doesn't cut off quite as much light as it could, especially on a normal and short telephoto lens (with the APS-C crop). However, when fitted on a full-frame camera I'm sure the shallow hood is an asset.

Comments about General Brand 49mm Screw-In Rubber Lens Hood:
Its an easy to use collapsing rubber hood. I use it on an FA50/1.4 It would be nice to know the exact angle of view it restricts since I think it could be a bit longer for this lens but seems to do an adequate job. in either position it seems to add a little cushion to protect the lens a little(at least in my mind)
