Product Highlights
  • Reduces Bluish Cast of Daylight
  • Provides Greater Color Accuracy
  • MRC Multi-Resistant Coating
  • General Protective Filter
  • Rugged Black Brass Filter Ring
  • High Quality Schott Glass

The B+W 72mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) MRC Filter is a general use filter with a slight pink tint to help improve overall color accuracy and clarity. The light pink coloration helps to reduce the overall bluish cast of daylight and is especially effective when photographing landscapes and in shade.

The Sky 1A filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

        Comments about B+W 72mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) MRC Filter:

I use this Skyling Filter to protect my lens and it does that with no questions asked. Fits smoothly on the end of my 135 f2.0 lens and probably will never be removed.

A good value to protect my investment (my lens).

Good protective filter and multicoated as filters should be. So far I have not seen much difference between this filter and my similar UV Haze multi-coated B+W filter.

                  Comments about B+W 72mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) MRC Filter:

I've always used filters with one objective in mind: protect the glass. A colleague recommended using B+W, so I did and I'm never looking back!

B+W are simply the best. It's true, you do get what you pay for. Yes, these filters might be more expensive than your average Tiffens, but it's well worth the investment - especially if you're protecting a $1,200+ lenses!!

The filter is solid. High quality.

[...]The filter has a sturdy mounting ring which fits correctly and has no visible effect on photos beyond the slight warming expected of a Skylight filter.

                      Comments about B+W 72mm Skylight KR-1.5 (1A) MRC Filter:

Recently switched to using B+W filters after using Tiffen for 25 years. All the recent Tiffen filters I have purchased have had the glass become loose in the filter mount during normal use. I am tired of having to worry about my filters being loose. This is my second B+W and I'm very pleased. The glass was spotless out of the box. The mount/threads perfect. You can really feel the heavy duty quality of the filter. I use the filters on the Nikon 18-200 VR & the 70-200 VR. One thing though - you will have to remove the sky or UV filter before putting on a polarizer to avoid vignetting on the 18-200VR. So no double stacking with wide lenses. So for me definitely worth the extra money for B+W over lower priced filters.

I originally bought a Hoya Pro1 Digital UV filter to keep on my lens and was very distressed with how difficult it was to keep the coating clean. I justified purchasing a second filter by going with the B+W Skylight which is almost the same as a UV but different and cleans easier with a micro cloth.
