The B+W 49mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Comments about B+W 49mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter:
B+W is one of the most trusted brands, and for a reason: quality through and through.
Some photographers won't put anything in front of their lens from a stand point of purity. I have had too many instances where the relatively inexpensive filter protected the irreplaceable glass.
So, if you are going to put something between your lens and your subject, make sure it is pure and negligible.

Mounted this filter to my Konica Auto S3 - yes, that classic rangefinder that is so elusive. I had to protect the lens and there is nothing better than B+W. Images are clear and haze free. The filter easily mounts on and off - no binding.

Got this to protect the lens on my new NEX-5 camera and have been very happy with it. I wanted to be able to leave off the lens cap inside the case for quick access and this has given me peace of mind about my lens without sacrificing any picture quality. It's really small and my lens cap still fits onto it when I want extra protection. Love it.

B&W is an industry standard, and has been for many years. I buy these for all my lenses and always have.
They screw-in and screw-out very smoothly, never seizing up. I stick with the brand if for nothing else, pure peace-of-mind and what has always been a positive experience with the product.

I use this filter on a 40mm Pentax pancake lens. It does a good protection job and the light transmission is excellent. I really recommend to get filter adapted to the quality of the lens (it's really too bad to put a cheap filter on a good quality lens...).
