The B+W 40.5mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

it should be just a filter; but...
I bought two B+W filters to go with my two kit Nikon J3 lenses. one filter fit both lenses, one filter wouldn't screw on to either.

Comments about B+W 40.5mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter:
Purchased this as a lens protector/uv filter for a use on a Nikon J3 for my girlfriend. I own and use B&W or Heliopan filters on all my pro gear. They are simply the best. Brass ring construction, Schott glass, quality coatings. Why compromise your picture quality with a cheap filter? For a few dollars more, you can have the best. You're only going to buy it once, right?

Comments about B+W 40.5mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter:
The multicoating on this filter is extremely good, a bit better than that on Hoya filters, which are good as well; but these are a bit better. B&W filters are extremely well-made and I expect this one to last for many years.

It is a must have for anyone who owns lens or a camera that can be attached with a UV filter.
It also will protect your lens from dust and any scratches.
I bought the B+W as it is built better than other brand. The ring is brass not some cheap aluminum or metal.
The glass quality is AWESOME!! There is no color distortion as it is a clear filter.
I used it with my Nikon P7700.

First thing I did when my brand new NEX-6 arrived today was to attach this filter to it for protection and UV haze removal. Had this purchased in advance so I wouldn't go a minute without it. Very clear glass, and looks good at an angle.
Would highly recommend.

I use these filters on all my lenses. After all, the quality of your filter should match the quality of your lens. You won't be disappointed with this filter. It will stay clean longer and prevent funky glare and reflections from external sources and you won't even have to remove the filter for night photography. A great investment!

I've recently restored and now use my Dad's Zeiss-Ikon Contax IIIa -- a post-war classic. It's tiny 50mm f/1.5 is just as valuable or more than the camera. I would not wish to damage the glass, hence the filter. Protection.
