I am a photography student developing film for the first time. The plastic reels that come with this tank are extremely easy to roll the film onto, considerably easier than stainless steel reels. The lid seals on very tightly due to use of a gasket and it doesn't leak chemicals when agitated. The construction and quality of this product is very high. Also, with the tank only holding about 20 ounces of liquid it requires less chemistry then some other universal tanks by about 4-6 ounces. I have developed 4 rolls of film with this tank so far and it has worked perfectly each time and results have been consistent. I am glad I chose this tank over all the other plastic tanks.

However, it is a plastic tank so you'll never get the chemical smell out.

Comments about Samigon Universal Plastic Developing Tank with 2 Reels:

The reels have an easy to feel tab (that spans the width of the negetive)that lets you slide the negatives in, unlike the others that just have 2 small tabs on either side of the reel.

The top is easy and fool proof so you wont get any light in.

Easy to use, easy to clean up. Worth the little extra than the others.

Comments about Samigon Universal Plastic Developing Tank with 2 Reels:

I am brand new to developing my own film... The tank works great. No issues at all. The reels that come with it are really easy to load. You will be spooling film in under a minute. You are able to modify the reels to work with 35mm or medium format. Only reason I give it 4 stars over 5 is that you can't just buy the tank itself. I shoot 120 and 220 and don't need 2 reels because the tank can only hold one medium format roll at a time. Functions really well though.

I think this gets good reviews because people dev 5 rolls and everything is hunky dory. I've had this 6 months and it leaks everywhere. It's gasket is very hard and the threading is really poor.I was very careful with it, but the theading goes bad and chemical will leak everyhwhere. Reels are Ok, but any plastic reel will load is if it isn't wet.

Comments about Samigon Universal Plastic Developing Tank with 2 Reels:

I've just started developing my own B&W 120 and 35mm film at home. This is a great tank, especially for those starting out. I was going to go with a different tank/reel combination, however the two reels included in this tank have the larger built-in guide tabs making it much easier to load the film.

It allows me to process either one roll of 120 film or two 35mm rolls with the two included adjustable reels. I don't believe you can do a 120 roll AND 135 roll at the same time, I'm pretty sure the tank is too short for that.

My only complaint is that the top cap does not screw-on or lock-on, its only a rubber cap so if you don't hold it on really tight it can leak during agitation. It's also slightly bulky so make sure you have a large+ changing bag.

While of good quality, the tank itself is indistinguishable from the Omega universal developing tank.
What sets Samigon apart is the reel design. You can simply push a 36-frames roll all the way in, without even having to "walk the film in" by ratcheting the reel halves.
If you already own an Omega tank, consider buying a set of Samigon reels (Mfr #ESA325), as they are fully interchangeable.

Great Product. I'm a photo student and have used this product multiple times throughout this semester. Construction and assembling is very simple and easy to do. The two plastic reels are very handy and quick to load film into; less complicated than steel reels. Being able to develop film in twos makes for a much quicker process for getting work done. It has a snug cap. No leaks. And at the end it is an easy clean.

This product works exactly like described. Hasn't leaked on me a bit and developed four batches of film so far. I didn't know about the handle to twist instead of invert the film to agitate it, but it is a great inclusion that i really like. Twisted it for 15 seconds every minute.

I am using it to develop 120 size films, mostly B&W and some C41. This tank is wonderful and loading the film on the reel is easy.

They keep my chemicals in, while I agitate, which my other developing tank had issues with! And you can load two rolls at a time, and the wheels can take 35mm OR 120mm film! Pretty cool.

Having gone through three tanks already (AP, Patterson, and a stainless steel one), I'm happy to announce that this is the most satisfactory. Even though it's a screw-on (in comparison to the Patterson easy-snap funnel lid) for lid, its top is what I think is great. It doesn't leak thank to it's rubber seal, even though some water remains unless you remove the rubber seal which is easy to do.

All and all, it's a wonderful tank, and I intend to keep it for a very long time.

The best feature of this tank is the easy-loading reels. They feature a very prominent loading slot that is easy to feel in the dark, and they take up the film with absolutely no binding, even toward the end (provided they are completely dry).

Only drawback is the lid, which easily cross-threads when you are trying to screw it on. Usually takes me several attempts to get it on straight.

With the necessary practice (required of all reel-based developing tanks),loading the film is straight-forward and the developing process goes smoothly and without leaks. The tank seems to be well made and represents a solid value.

New to B&W film development? I was too. I spent many hours digging around the 'net looking for the correct equipment, the correct developer, the correct everything. After all this research I still didn't have a clue as to which development tank to buy so I took a shot and picked this one up. It's fantastic. It does everything you'll need it to do and it does it easily. The plastic reels are easy to load (honestly, that was my biggest fear - that the reels would be a [*] to load) and the top is watertight. An amazing product an amazing price.
