In the tradition of the SM58®, the Beta 58A dynamic microphone has become a top choice among vocalists and touring sound professionals.
The Shure Beta 58A is a high-output supercardioid dynamic vocal microphone designed for professional sound reinforcement and project studio recording. It maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range. This insures high gain-before-feedback, maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimum off-axis tone coloration. The Beta 58A has a shaped frequency response that is ideal for close-up vocals. The superb performance of this microphone is not affected by rough handling because of its rugged construction, proven shock mount system, and hardened steel mesh grille.

Comments about Shure BETA58A - Supercardioid Dynamic Mic:
We use this mike in a middle school seventh grade technology class for a simulated radio broadcast.
It gets used for eight class a day and it is kid proof!
If I ever needed another one I would buy it again.

Comments about Shure BETA58A - Supercardioid Dynamic Mic:
Really good microphone. I use it for live performances mostly and it has a really nice captation with higher pitches and no noise. It's a bit heavy, but that counts for quality I think.

Comments about Shure BETA58A - Supercardioid Dynamic Mic:
using for amateur church singers, this is a good choice. It sounds good for its price, handles high spl's, has good feedback rejection and it resists to sometimes careless people.

Comments about Shure BETA58A - Supercardioid Dynamic Mic:
I use the Beta58 for ENG use, not on-stage. The background noise suppression the Beta58 offers is absolutely phenomenal, better than any other mic I've ever used; in fact I've yet to find an environment too loud for this mic. I've actually obtained usable dialog from audience members within 50 feet of the stage during a rock concert!
Just get yourself a foam windsock like the On-Stage ASWS58 & it will look just like a regular ENG mic too. The Beta58 is very directional so you'll instruct the journalist to swing the mic back & forward.
The Beta58 is certainly one of the best mics in my kit, indeed a bargain at twice the price. I am not exaggerating when I say in a high-noise environment the journalist with cease to hear the interviewee long before the mic will.
