The B+W 77mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention. The slim filters are specifically designed for use with wide angle lenses and are only 0.1" / 3mm thick. They do not have front threads for stacking additional filters.
Note: This filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size, and because of this you may be unable to attach the lens manufacturer's bayonet-mounted lens hood to the lens while using this filter. This is dependent on your specific lens and how thick the front rim of the lens is; with thinner, low-profile lenses usually being affected more.

I use this on my Canon EF 16-35/f2.8 L. It's glass is tack sharp.
My only complaint is something caused as a by-product of its slimness. My stock Canon lens cap no longer fits well, and will fall off easily if I do not have it adjusted "just so". What I found is, if I mount it slightly off center, and upside down, it will hold.

Not a multi-coated filter
B+W is fantastic but this does not have any coatings. If you get a filter, get one that has multi-coatings on both sides. I returned this for a Hoya UV HMC filter.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
B&H gave me a great deal on an ultra thin filter for my 16-35mm Nikkor f4 lens. Aside from having a brass ring, superior glass, it also came with its own lens cap -- the Nikkor lens cap does not fit on ultra thin filters for ultra wide angle lenses.

use it on 17-40mm. Only thing is that the lens cap does not fit in this filter, but still great.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
As a wildlife photographer, I put my equipment through extreme conditons. I will pay more as I expect more for what I buy. B+W filters are durable, hardy and take a beating and still do their job. I have lost a couple due to cameras falling, but they did their job even as they broke. All protected my lens front element. Don't go cheap, go good. My next question is, how expensive is it to replace your lens. Consider it an investment.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
Used on my canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 wide angle zoom, this filter is an excellent choice for general protection without holding back the quality of the lens. I've used cheaper filters on other lenses and the quality of this glass is incredible!
The slim was absolutely necessary for the wide angle range; I cannot see much, if any vignetting. Although the slim filter will not support the original cap or additional filters the filter and cap are perfect for the lens. The cap that comes with the filter is not as sturdy as the original lens cap, but it still does a good job at staying on. This filter is also easy to clean. The only downside is the price, but now that I've used this I am now questioning whether older poor shots had glare or ghost images due to poor quality filters instead of what I thought to be poor quality lenses.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
Gret UV Filter on my Tokina 11-16. The only issue is that being a WA lens it required a slim filter to reduce vignetting and the filter will not accept the lens cap. Thus, each time I use the lens I have to mount and unmount the filter whereas I usually just mount the filter and keep it there until I clean the filter and lens.

Comments about B+W 77mm UV Slim SC 010 Filter:
After having seen the quality and durability of B+W filters I got rid of all my other UV filters from different manufacturers and replaced them with B+W filters. Unlike some of the UV filters I had used earlier this UV filter (made from superior German optics) does not degrade Image Quality. I bought this filter for my 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II lens.

The perfect add-on to the perfect club lens. Blocks an insane amount of UV, and is perfectly clear. No vignetting at 11mm.

Merchant response: "Slim" filters don't cause vignetting with wide angle lenses but lack front threads.
