I have used all types of lighting equipment for product pictures and this is by far the best investment I have made. One light and this dish made it so much easier to take pictures of products and the end result is awesome. Highly recommended

excellent light when using single person portrait (especially women). I notice a ring when doing test shots to a wall but you won't notice it on real subjects. it might bother some people but I didn't buy this to shot at walls. the grid is a must have.

I thought I had the best modifier a budget studio photographer could afford (Photek Softlighter II), but I was wrong. A few good recommendations on POTN convinced me to shell out the money for this Speedotron BD for my Genesis lights.
The first few shots with this dish was amazing. I love the quality of light on this, especially for head & head/shoulder shots! It produces great contrast and really outlines the model's facial features and lines.
I use my Softlighter II for an evenly lit and subtle beauty shot, but I find myself reaching for the Speedotron more and more.
I haven't shot with the Mola Demi, but others have said that it is very comparable. Of course, I've seen shots done with the Mola Euro and nothing compares to that.
Speedotron should make a Mola Euro competitor. I would buy that!

The light this modifier produces is just beautiful. Use it with my Alienbees and a single 580 EX II. I don't really have anything negative to say about it other than it's big and can't collapse down like a soft box.

Well, you should know what a beauty dish does, and this one does it very well. It is very well constructed, and with the right adapter can be used with just about any lights. I use Elinchrom monolights and with the Norman adapter is seems that it was made for my lights.
If you need a BD, just buy it, it is great.

Very similar design to Mola dishes but about 1/3 of the price, plus can be adapted to any make of a flash by swapping out the mounting ring (easy to do).
Modded mine by using a Mole/ Richardson Concave Reflector in place of the center diffusion (attach with aluminum tape) and then wrap Rosco Toughlux around the center posts. Eliminate the need for the DiffuserSox.

Excellent product that certainly lived up to my expectations in terms of getting the "glamour look" I was seeking. In between the hard regular reflector light and the softbox. Only minor criticism is the flimsy diffuser material used to cover the flash tube, otherwise it is very well made.

Purchased this item instead of more expensive elinchrom model. No regrets at all. Delivers soft directional light. Very useful for my portrait shots. I plan to purchase another for my second strobe.
