After reading the review for the cheaper photoflex swivel mount. I decided to try this one. This is my first swivel mount I ever bought so I can't compare it to any others. I'm very pleased with it for the price. I was looking at some higher priced one's but decided to get this one since I also recently bought photoflex light stands & umbrellas.I used my Nikon SB - 800 speedflash on this mount. The swivel mount comes with a reversible 1/4 - 3/8 threaded stud. What I did was use the AS-19 stand that came with my SB - 800 speedlight. Just screw the 1/4 stud that came with the mount into the AS-19 stand and then attach the Nikon speedlight. It works perfect!!Since I liked the first one I received, I'm going to order a second one as soon as I'm done writing this review!

Well-built solid mount, and easy to use adjustment screws. All works very well. The only problem I had was that the angle of the umbrella mount didn't work too well with my particular flash. Landed up meaning that the flash was aimed at the top half of the umbrella. I switched to the Bogen version which was aligned a lot better for my purposes.

I purchased a unique flash mount and needed something that would hold it plus a softbox... Went in, asked one of the guys for help. BINGO! Used it on a shoot and it worked like it was designed to.

If you use oval reflectors and bought a Telescopic Litedisc Holder - 36-67" in place of an assistant, you will need this to hold the other end of the holder. The oval reflector will overwhelm the arm. This lets you support it at the other end with a second lightstand.

Comments about Photoflex Heavy Duty Swivel Mount with Reversible Stud:
I use this to support an EzyBox 76x76 cm and a strobe head. That assembly acts as a pretty effective lever, so I wanted a heavier duty swivel mount to handle it. This one works great.
Just like the lighter model, this one stays where you point it. It feels heavier and the adjustment handle is a bit longer than the regular one, too.
I'd buy another one if I needed one.

Comments about Photoflex Heavy Duty Swivel Mount with Reversible Stud:
It's not bad, but I returned it for several reasons. First, I had to crank the handle hard to really secure it. Second, it's heavier than I need. Third, the stud holes are round, and a lot of studs out there require a hexagonal opening. I didn't see any advantage to this over the cheaper plastic versions except that the knobs seem sturdier.

I needed something to be able to mount my SB800 flash units along with lighting controls on my light stands. This is a really well built product that is a perfect solution for me. I am amazed at how well it is manufactured and how inexpensive it is. What a bargain.

I got this to use with my Elinchrom lights because of the 7mm umbrella hole in the Elinchroms. This is a very sturdy mount a very good product. It just offsets my light too far from the center of the umbrella...

Comments about Photoflex Heavy Duty Swivel Mount with Reversible Stud:
I've always been pleased with Photoflex's products, and it continues with this heavy swivel mount. I actually bought this item by accident because I didn't read the description, but I'm not going to return it.
The heavy duty swivel is heftier than Photoflex's plastic umbrella swivel. It's metal construction and tighter locking screws and joints give it a high degree of durability, stability, and versatility.
The metal construction means it can take a beating. Drops and stomps, you'll still have a swivel. The "heavy duty" isn't just a name it, locked in it will assuredly hold your monobloc.
Although it is much heavier than the plastic swivel, this version is more versatile because you can mount small lights/accessories as well as large lights/accessories with confidence.
These are great to have around if your lighting set up is a mix of large and small flash.

After having used several models and brands of swivels, I finally hit it big with the Photoflex version.
This is by far, the sturdiest piece of hardware in it's category. Now that I got and tested one, I am buying others , as I have found additional uses for these units when doing complex lighting set ups.
