I bought the AC240 so that my guitar teacher and I could share my amp. Most simply, it acts as a passive splitter. But the inputs are adjustable so that you can equalize the volume of up to four instruments. Works great! Apparently, this product is no longer being made, and B&H appears to be the only place in the world still selling them. Get one while you can!

I intended to use this mixer to send the signal from multiple guitars to one amp. It was sturdy and well made, and did do the job, but there was a noticeable signal loss. Powered mixers often introduce excess signal noise, and this passive mixer was quiet in comparison, but the signal loss was too much for my purposes.

      Works as advertised

Comments about DOD AC240 Resistance Mixer:

Very simple device. I run two mics through it to my Fender Pro Junior, harmonica and voice. Sound seems true and clean. Volume controls work well. Great not to have to find another power source

Comments about DOD AC240 Resistance Mixer:

It's not fancy, but it's very sturdy and well made. It's a resistance mixer, so no power is required. When the knobs are fully clockwise, you should get the original signal, while adjusting them counter-clockwise adds resistance, thereby weakening the signal. This lets you mix up to four sources into one. The cool thing about this is that you can also use it in reverse, splitting one signal out to up to four. It's one of those things that you don't think about, but when you really need it, it's fantastic to have on hand. I've used it in several different scenarios. The pots are high quality, silky smooth and whisper quiet. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Comments about DOD AC240 Resistance Mixer:

I'm a jazz accordionist and my instruments use two channel outputs, one for treble and one for bass. When using a single channel combo amp instead of a PA I need a way to combine those signals cleanly with no loss of strength. This unit is a great combiner. It's quiet, built to last, and no batteries needed.

Comments about DOD AC240 Resistance Mixer:

This thing is very versatile, it allows me to have 2 independent effects chains running at the same time, I can have a dedicated clean effects chain and one dedicated distortion/overdrive chain, by being independent both chains sound their best, I choose between them with an A/B box (also available at B&H) without the DOD 240 it simply cannot be done, grab one and enjoy, rock on!

I'm using this at the front of my bass pedal looping board. I run my bass, guitar and kaossilator all at once for my one man looping band. The separate levels for each input allow the different inputs to "play nicely." My bass has hotter output than my bass and the kaossilator. I don't know how I lived without this!

It seems to be a four way splitter. I was trying to mix my ipod and a simple unpowered mic, but the ipods signal was not adjusted whatsoever by turning the knob. The unpowered mic signal was adjustable. Its to simple to be useful for my purposes.
I should have thought more before buying it. What is a resistance mixer, anyway?

Great simple little box. It really allows for routing flexibility and possibility. And because they are passive, they can be used as signal splitters (if driven hard enough).
