My day job - I work in television and shoot video. Outside of that my passion is working with film and here is something to get excited about. It sounds unrealistic to think that a film this fast would work equally well in low and strong light conditions but it does - performs beautifully rendering greys and a superior tonal range.

I was hoping to really strike some dramatic images with this super high iso black and white film. In some cases, I was very happy with the moody and textured results. In others, it came across and flat and unradical. I would recommend avoiding flash on this film as I saw the most desired results when in low natural light.

I used to love 1600iso, but since that is no longer produced this is the best low light, grainy film you can get. One of the few films I still use in this digital age.

Comments about Ilford Delta-3200 Professional 135-36 B&W Print Film (ISO-3200 Push Process):

I just love to load this film on a Rollei 35 and go. I develop it in Ilfotec DD-X and I love the texture of the grain, the contrast you can get out of it and the gritty feel of it. Pricey but great. Seems to be less forgiving of under- than over-exposure, so when in doubt, open a stop or develop to the next stop. You can shoot it at pretty much any speed you like and develop accordingly.

This is some of the craziest film I've had the pleasure of shooting with. Shot with Kodaks TX 3200 before and if I had to choose to save my life, it's a close call but i'm confidant with the way Ilfords turned out.

Comments about Ilford Delta-3200 Professional 135-36 B&W Print Film (ISO-3200 Push Process):

I shoot street style and prefer to shoot at night. I'm a newcomer to film and have only shot about 40 rolls or so. I've used both this Ilford and the Kodak P3200.

I'm inexperienced so I'm just learning what is and isn't possible with my camera, lens, and these high speed films. I have had okay results with the Kodak (I usually ask the processor to push at least 1 stop, sometimes 2, depending on how carefully I've watched my exposure).

The Ilford definitely gives more smoothness (less grain, I suppose), but I am not able to get results from the really low light situations whereas I could get 'something' out of the Kodak. i am probably going to stop buying the Kodak as most of what I can find is expired or really expensive (and of course, it is officially discontinued).

My development probably lies with better technique and more selective exposure rather than the film I use. I like that Ilford is reasonably priced and I'm not probably going to be able to push its ultimate quality until I get my basic shooting technique up to snuff, anyway.

Comments about Ilford Delta-3200 Professional 135-36 B&W Print Film (ISO-3200 Push Process):

I use this film primarily for fun. It's coarse-grained, and has relatively poor contrast and detail capture compared with slower films. But it lets you get shots out of really, really dark situations, bringing your film photographer into new territory.

Digital post-processing lets you compensate for some of the film's shortcomings. Ilford has a lab in the states, which is one of the reasons I tried this film. Now, I keep a few rolls around for roller derby photography and other low-light situations. Just because it's fun.

My day job - I work in television and shoot video. Outside of that my passion is working with film and here is something to get excited about. It sounds unrealistic to think that a film this fast would work equally well in low and strong light conditions but it does - performs beautifully rendering greys and a superior tonal range.
