International Orders*Linhof's 617s III panoramic camera is only as good as the lenses mounted upon it. With its interchangeable lenses, an excellent library of optics can be gathered, and this Linhof Lens Unit with a Schneider 180mm f/5.6 Apo-Symmar Lens is a superb addition. Linhof sets the lens in its own precision-machined helical lens mount that allows for bellows-free focusing. Its wide image circle covers the full 6x17 cm negative area and covers 53°, great for panoramic photography.
Note! An optional Schneider Center Filter IVb (#08025638) is recommended for use with slide film or extensive movements.

Comments about Linhof 617s III Lens Unit - Schneider 180mm f/5.6 Apo-Symmar:
I use this 180mm to replace the 72mm I broke. The 180mm is the most stable of the five lenses they make, and, I purchased this time with the five year separate warranty. (The 180mm viewfinder was on top of all that.) There is nothing not great about this lens, I am sure, if it is anything like the 72mm. And if it isn't who cares? Finally, this lens is much less susceptible to distortion up close on the ends than the 180-mm and the 180 mm needs no special neutral density filter as a matter of course. My mistake, what is not great about the lens is that the fastest shutter speed is 1/400 sec, as for the other lenses itis 1/500 of a second. I wanted very much the 250mm lens, but that kind of bread was over the top for me. "Give me the whole set!" I already owned a body, the one I bought with the 72mm lens in 1998.
