The 8x32 Premier SE Binocular from Nikon is a general purpose set of glasses featuring a weather-sealed magnesium-alloy housing and an Eco-Glass optical path that contains neither lead nor arsenic. Nikon's Premier series optics combines a fully multicoated lens system and field flattener eyepieces to transmit a enhanced contrast and impressive detail across the entire field of view. Phase-corrected BAK4 prisms render a color faithful image without sacrificing brightness.

Complementing its image quality, the 8x32 Premier SE displays a wide 60° apparent viewing angle and is capable of focusing as close as 10 ft, making this binocular suitable for almost any viewing task. The magnesium-alloy housing is nitrogen-filled for fogproof performance and wrapped in a slip-resistant rubber armoring that makes this Premier series optic easy to use even when conditions turn wet or cold. A sculpted body with ergonomically located gripping surfaces, in addition to a fast focus adjustment wheel, equips this binocular for user-friendly handling.

The Nikon 8x32 Premier SE binocular is the best buy in binoculars. Very sharp, bright, wide and flat views. Like there is no glass at all. You don't need to spend $2000.00 for a binocular unless you must have waterproofing.

Comments about Nikon 8x32 Premier SE Binocular:

First off, these are not waterproof, and should have a star taken away just for that. I didn't, though, because it is not like they are trying to hide that from you.

I use them for birding and just keeping an eye on things as long as the weather is decent. Really, as long as you don't dunk them in a pond they'll do just fine in a shower.

At 1/3 the price of an Alpha (Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss) roof prism, you can get a view as good if not better. You cannot beat the 3D look of a good porro prism that a roof prism at any price cannot duplicate, and the DOF (depth of field) is better than most any roof prism glass. Good DOF is wonderful as you'll find yourself not constantly reaching for the focus knob.

Also, the classic look of a porro prism bino is a great reason to add this to your collection. Really, you will not find a more immersive view, sharp image from edge to edge, fantastic contrast and color, at any price. Get one while you can.

Comments about Nikon 8x32 Premier SE Binocular:

I bought these for my wife after researching for the best view, lightest weight glasses that weren't $2000. When I compare to my 10x42 Swarovski's I am impressed. Very bright, nice color edge to edge. Good buy. The only downside is not waterproof, but her bird warrior days are over and it is unlikely they will get too wet!

If you are a looking for a birding binocular, do not hesitate to purchase the Nikon 8x32 Premier. I was truly blown away by the image brightness, clarity, and color. I have used Swarovski, Pentax, Zeiss, and Leica previously and cannot understand how these binoculars can produce an image as good or better than each of those at a fraction of the price--but they do. Best value (and possibly the best regardless of price)out there.

      Nikon SE's: superior binoculars

      By billy the k

      from Tucson, AZ

      Verified Buyer

Comments about Nikon 8x32 Premier SE Binocular:

The 8X32 SE's are definitely superlative binoculars. They are not heavy yet they are
robust in construction. Once you adjust them for your individual interpupil distance
and diopter correction they don't drift off these settings during routine handling. I have other Nikons--their 6X15 retro design, their 5X15 Titanium (roof prism), and an
8X36 Monarch (roof prism), but these precision aligned 8X32's were out-of the-box
obviously superior to all of these. The SE eyepieces give a flat field of view, and the
wider separation of porro prism objectives gives a more impressive 3D image. Some say the roof prism design has better ergonomics, but the SE's seem to be porro prisms done perfectly: they feel great in the hand. Some have complained of the lack of a standard tripod socket at the end of the central shaft, but this is no defect: why? because Nikon makes a tripod adapter (mfr# 7806) for the SE series
(and also fits the Prostar and Astroluxe) which is vastly superior to having your binoculars being held by a few threads of a 1/4 X 20 screw inserted into the end of the central shaft; this special tripod adapter clamps under and over the central shaft
itself and effortlessly secures it with a vise-like grip--a far superior design for tripod
use (I wish I could use it with my Fujinon FMT-SX 16X70's) The 8X32 SE's (plus that special tripod adapter) were so good overall that I ordered the 12X50 SE's
(instead of the Fujinon FMT-SX 12X50's) to round out the magnification range for
Tucson sky-watching. (Only ED objectives would improve the SE's).

Comments about Nikon 8x32 Premier SE Binocular:

Before purchasing these (not from B&H, actually), I did considerable research and, for the price, I think these are pretty hard to beat. The optics are superb with incredible sharpness, excellent color (very little "fringing") and contrast. I haven't used any modern Leica/Swarovski/Zeiss models to compare, but I can't imagine it gets much better than these optically.

While the porro prism design makes them bulkier than a roof prism binocular, it gives a lot of depth to the images and a really nice "3D" effect.

Ergonomics are great - these fit great in my (size-large) hands. Focus is smooth and precise with a lot of travel for making fine adjustments. The focus does stiffen considerably in the cold, but I suppose that should be expected. The fold-down eyecups provide plenty of relief for glasses-wearers. The diopter adjustment is well-marked and stays put during use.

They aren't weather sealed or nitrogen filled, so they will fog in rain/cold, but otherwise, these are spectacular.

Comments about Nikon 8x32 Premier SE Binocular:

This is my favorite birding binocular, period. That being said, I do not take it out on rainy days. I do have waterproof binoculars for inclement weather, including a 7x42 Leica Trinovid, but nothing gives me more pleasurable viewing than the Nikon. Another reviewer disparaged the included neck strap; I replaced it with an OP/TECH camera strap. If I am not sharing the binocular with a companion, I attach the instrument to a chest harness so my neck does not bear the weight. My only real complaint about the binocular is the eyecup construction. It would be better to have solid, adjustable screw-up eyecups rather than the soft rubber cups. I worry about the cups cracking and tearing like the ones I had on a binocular from another manufacturer. I try to avoid using these binoculars where I may encounter people who wish to share the view because I wish to leave the rubber cups rolled down for viewing with eyeglasses; I wince every time I roll those soft rubber eyecups! I have tried binoculars that cost four times as much but they gave no better view.

Comments about Nikon 8x32 Premier SE Binocular:

This binocular has an amazing image quality. I have to say second to NONE.
I have compared it to my Leica 8x32HD and the results really surprised me.
The Nikon is a tad brighter and shows a sharper field of view to the extreme edges.
If you need a binocular with all the bells and whistles (Waterproof/fogproof etc ) get the Leica, if you need sheer optical BRILLIANCE there is none better than the Nikon 8x32 SE CF, the ultimate 3D razor sharp view available today.
Truly the BENCHMARK standard of 8x binoculars.

These are excellent binoculars, best resolution and color imaginable. You really have to get the diopter just right though to ensure comfortable viewing, if it's just a bit off it'll cause some eye strain. It really should come with a high quality neckstrap, it's a pity to spend this much on binoculars only to have to spend a bit more for a suitable strap.
