Product Highlights
  • Multi-Coated (HMC)
  • Glass

The Hoya 67mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Neutral Density filters have four main uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Neutral Density Factors

2x = ND.3 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)
4x = ND.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)
8x = ND.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)
As one of the premier filter manufacturers, Hoya filters continue to made from quality glass assuring the photographer clear, sharp and accurate images
Hoya filters consistently provide even color all the way through the filter; All surfaces are ground and polished to specific thickness and tolerances

            bought to freeze water flows and slow movement. Works as intended. ND8 is also right to start; not too much and not too little, at least for me.

              The quality you expect. The price you don't. I use several Hoya filters. I mainly purchase the one's that are made in Japan with multi-coating. They have served me well for years.

                            I like this filter but I have problem cleaning it, Can't use any chemical cleanser to clean it, only soft cotton cloth, It will clean by cloth but it will take a while, other than that, it's a great filter. I used it for waterfalls and outside portraits.

                                I use it in bright sun to get slower shutter speeds for flash photography, getting 1/200 was easy at f/4 with this filter.
                                Ive also used it once to get a waterfall with a slow shutter.

                                  Use for waterfall photography where I need to use a long exposure in daylight. Works great, especially when you have an assortment of different ND filter strengths to work with. However, I have noticed on my 77mm Hoya NDs that the mounting clip inside the ring is beginning to separate and the glass is now loose. That might have happened during exposure to hot sunlight in the summer months. Also, be aware that you cannot use your normal lens cleaner to clean these filters (as stated on the filter case, but I inadvertently used the cleaner and it streaks the filters really badly!). Still, used properly, these are a must-have in your camera bag!

                                    This filter is perfect for taking long exposure time in daylight. I made some awesome pics of waterfalls with it. Image quality doesn't suffer any visible defects. A great value!
