I hate to write a negative review especially after reading how pleased most seem with this stand. The build is decent, with exception to the crossbar which is pretty flimsy. It does OK with very light, short muslins, but with a quality, heavier, longer muslin that has to be "worked with" in regards of getting up, clamped and pulled across the floor (for full length shots) this thing is useless. Biggest problem is the "footprint" of the stands are quite small. They tip over easily if youre working with a heavier background. (Which is what I use most of the time.) I see why they recommend the 15 lb sandbags to help anchor the stands. I have a lot of different stands but needed another with a telescopic crossbar ........ the reviews led me to this one. The Savage or most other brand stands have a wider footprint (wider leg tips on the floor for stability) ....... I should have just picked up another of those. Theyre OK after theyre set up but be careful about them tipping over. Especially if you have a studio full of young kids.

Comments about Da-Lite Deluxe Background Stand with One Crossbar:
Great product for the cost. Crossbar is sturdy, which is very important to me since I hold 12' rolls of seamless. My only complaint is that the legs to the base stands don't spread very far apart. I wish they had a slightly larger footprint - especially when holding a heavy backdrop several feet in the air.

Comments about Da-Lite Deluxe Background Stand with One Crossbar:
The uprights are stout & lightweight, but the crossbar is poorly designed. It's horribly unstable during setup with a large muslin. It would be much better if the telescoping crossbar could twist-lock each extension into a rigid position like a painter's extension pole. I also found that after unpacking the crossbar for my second use that it was locked in it's collapsed state and I had to free the frozen sections with channel-lock pliers. I'm currently using two Pony Spring "A" Clamps to restrict each crossbar section into extended position during setup. I feel Da-Lite could use a bit of daylight in their design.

Comments about Da-Lite Deluxe Background Stand with One Crossbar:
we used this product as a brackdrop for our play. Our set designer came with the idea of using shower curtains hooks to change the scene. It worked very good. Just need a heavier bar to hold on the weight. But it lasts.

Comments about Da-Lite Deluxe Background Stand with One Crossbar:
This is a light stand and a heavy muslin will make it difficult to move. Hard to stretch the dimensions with a background on it. As well, could use more weight in the legs.
That said, it does a good job at doing what it's supposed to do. It's easy to set up, tear down, transport, and overall is a good addition to my photo arsenal

It's light and portable. With that, it's not the sturdiest. So it depends what you're going for. I plan on traveling a lot with mine so the light portable aspect won over the sturdiness of it.

I had never bought anything like this and am very pleased with it. I knew the name Da-Lite from as long ago as my Dad's old 8MM projector screen and knew we used it for years without a hitch. They apparently are still very quality conscience as this rig is built like a tank. Way to go Da-Lite and B & H!

The built quality of this background stand is really good just from the look and feel of it. The only thing I don't really like is the safe-lock clutch collars to adjust the height.
