Tamrac 777 (M.A.S.) Summit Photo Backpack - Black

B&H # TA777B MFR # 77701
No Longer Available

The Summit Photo Backpack, Model 777, is the medium backpack made of the Extreme Series materials; waterproofed, urethane-coated fabrics of the utmost strength. A layer of ABS plastic is found beneath the foam padded bottom for protection from carelessly plopping the pack on the ground. Model 777 is the same width and depth as the Model 787 but it is several inches shorter. It was created at the request of photographers who required a full-featured expedition photo backpack but felt that the 787 was a bit too large for their needs. The 777 will easily accommodate a combination of two 35mm SLR cameras, one with a very long lens attached, or two medium format cameras and a lot of cameras and a lot of lenses and equipment.

The 777 has the same features as the model 787 including M.A.S. and S.A.S. attachment slots, LockDown Rain Flaps and the Nexus Adjustment Wedge to adjust the harness system for a personal fit. The soft contoured harness spreads the weight across your shoulders. A waist strap and sternum strap further secure your rig. D-rings on the shoulder harness accept the N-11 strap to support a camera with the pack, rather than the photographer's neck.

Rain Flaps enclose the zippers from precipitation
Hefty carrying handles (on top & sides) easily support a fully-loaded pack
Self-healing coil zippers throughout
Quick-Clip tripod attachment holds a professional tripod balanced and secure
At 41.25 linear inches, it meets most airlines carry-on restrictions
(despite giving 45 total linear inches, the most restrictive airline specifies parmaters of 22 x 14 x 9" NOTE: Airline restrictions are subject to change. Always check with your carrier)
WindowPane mesh panels for 3 large interior zippered pockets
Two exterior zippered pockets
Material Power Grid Cordura
Type of Closure Zipper
Exterior Dimensions 12 x 11.5 x 17.75" (30 x 29 x 45cm) (WDH)
Interior Dimensions 10.75 x 6 x 16" (27 x 15 x 41cm) (WDH)
Accommodates 2 SLRs, one with 80-200mm f/2.8 lens

Comments about Tamrac 777 Summit Photo Backpack:

I have owned my Tamrac 777 Summit Photo Backpack for exactly 5 years, and it looks the same as it did when I got it (wear-wise). Not a cut, not a scratch, not a sewing-strand undone.

I am a Florida macro photographer, and this pack holds my Canon EOS 7D (with my 180mm macro), as well as my 10-22 lens, my 24-70, extension tubes, and MT-24 Twinlight Flash.

Yeah, it gets heavy, but guess what? The pack is made for heavy loads and there is not one single stitch that has come undone anywhere.

In today's climate of cheap $#!^ you have to replace all the time, this backpack will probably never need replacement. The only way I am buying another pack is to add a second (larger) one for myself and give this one to my girlfriend.

        Highly recommended!

Comments about Tamrac 777 Summit Photo Backpack:

This is my second Summit 777 backpack. My first one was stolen along with my photo equipment and it was still going strong after nearly 20 years of use.
I travel a lot internationally and this pack is the right size for the amount of equipment I travel with; fits easily in the overhead bin on airline flights or if needed under the seat in front of me. As for protection, one cannot beat this pack for protection. The straps are adjustable for a perfect fit with is important as I'll hike up to 20 miles per day! Can't emphasize this feature enough! My only complaint is the new pack is heavier the my first pack. On many flights in Latin America the carryon limit is 11 lbs, and this pack weighs
slightly over 6 lbs. I wish that it could have been a little lighter. But this is no problem in the US and Europe. I highly recommend this backpack.

This backpack carries it all, you will never need another backpack. Solidly built and well designed. It does take some extra muscle power to carry when it is fully loaded but overall a great buy.

Comments about Tamrac 777 Summit Photo Backpack:

I have had this backpack for a bout 7 years now. It has gone on hikes in Montana, on the plane to New Jersey as a carry-on, across country in a car, and many other places. I have had no problems or complaints what so ever. When i weighed the bag, it was well over 50lbs, but when your wear correctly, you can barely tell that it is there. I recommend this bag for anyone who has the adventurous and trill seeking needs that I do.

Comments about Tamrac 777 Summit Photo Backpack:

The backpack is extremely well made. My only complaint might be that the rear zipper does not zip up fully when the pack is in use. I decided to buy the 5577 which is the new version made overseas because it fit my large body a little better.
