So the great thing about Da-Lite's Model C series stands is that one stand works for all different sizes of screens. Which reduces the overall cost of the screens themselves, and means you've got less gear to stash when the gig is over.

The stand itself is solidly constructed. A cast aluminum base and two cast cradles on each end, joined together with aluminum tubing. Takes a little wiggling and jiggling to fit everything together. There are set screws on the cradles and center piece to lock things together.

The upright mast locks into the center stand. And here's where my minor issue comes into play. The stand includes excellent, but brief documentation on which set holes you need to use to lock the mast into the appropriate height for your screen. Why they didn't just either put a sticker or better yet - stamped - the numbers into the tubing is beyond me. Holding a manual while trying to hold out the detent while lifting a heavy screen...well...yeah.

The handles for lifting the screen are fantastic...nice...large and solid cast aluminum. Solidly attached to the mast.

Another minor issue is that while under load, a lot of weight and pressure is put on the mast. With the 12 foot square screens we ordered it took quite a bit of wiggling and jiggling to get the mast to release from a set position to either raise or lower the screen. The best solution was that if you get stuck on the middle mast, lower the upper to relieve some pressure, and vice versa on getting stuck on the upper, lower the middle mast and raise the upper.

The last thing this stand is missing is the ability to compensate for unlevel flooring. Having screw feet on the four corners of the cradle or some method of minor leveling changes would be appreciated.

I did and was able to set up this stand and a 12 foot screen by myself. I'm not the biggest guy out there, so it's a big plus in my book to own equipment that doesn't require a crew to transport and set up.

Oh, and no carrying case. Need a bag. Lots of bulky parts.

Ideal stand for my screen. Its awesome to watch movies on the big screen. This stand is very durable and looks great.
