Calibrated Color is a series of color effects lighting filters designed specifically for the spectral sensitivity of color film.
The CalColor series includes the primary colors Blue, Green and Red, along with the secondary colors Yellow, Magenta and Cyan followed by Pink and Lavender.
Each color is designed in four densities: 15, 30, 60 and 90, corresponding to the familiar 1/2, 1, 2 and 3 stop calibrations.
In color photography, three light-sensitive emulsion layers separately record the individual blue, green and red components of the spectrum.
CalColor filters adjust the transmission of these color components at the individual light source in a familiar and reliable manner.
As a result, the cinematographer can exercise selective and predictable control over the image's coloration as rendered by the film.
This Rosco CalColor Kit consists of one 10 x 12" (25 x 30 cm) sheet of each of the 33 colors in the CalColor range. Also included is a technical brochure and reference swatchbook. The kit is packaged in a handy storage pouch.

Comments about Rosco CalColor Kit (10 x 12"):
I bought this to slice the gels up for strobist use. It works fine for color balancing on the fly, BUT the gels only go down to 1/2 stop, with the exception of 1/4 cyan, which is, apparently, used to correct an extra reddish cast of dimmed tungsten.
I would have preferred 1/4 stops in all the primaries and their negatives, instead of the inclusion of the completely useless pink and lavender colors.

It's hard to believe a set of gels would be so awesome. Great quality and the included booklet that explains everything makes it all clear.

I used this product inside the studio and outdoors. I like that you can combine the filters. If you understand and know how these filters work, you can create some amazing work. Make sure you buy filter holders.
