Comments about K&M 21020 Tripod Microphone Stand with Boom (Black):

I have a small company that records and produces CD's on location at hotels and conference centers, as well as providing sound reinforcement services for these events. Our recordings reproduce spoken word presentations of what could best be described as lecture type material, workshops and panels. As such they are VERY dynamic, and contain many moments of silence between sentences as well as between presenters or participants.Quiet stands that can also be adjusted without a lot of noise are a must as they frequently need to be adjusted to accommodate one person to the next WHILE RECORDING. Road-worthiness is also a definite must. Our stands are ALWAYS used on the road.We use K&M 210/2 stands exclusively for their versitility, performance and dependability. These are the ones to buy if you want to buy each stand one time only and never have to worry about needing spares just in case one lets you down. Before I started my own company I used to work the top grossing national tours in the US. It should come as no suprise that by observation these top performing artests rely more hevily on K&M stands than all the others combined, and I'd hazard a guess to say I probably saw more 210/2 stands than any other model. You are not going to buy this stand and after a month or two be thinking, "maybe that was a mistake." You are not going to look at other stands a few months down the line and wonder if they would have been better. If you've never owned a K&M "Topline" stand you probably have no idea how truely trouble-free and quiet a stand can actually be. At least buy ONE, just to see the difference it makes when you spend the money on a truely world-class product. I'm certain that once you've seen for yourself, you'll skip right over all the other stands and buy another one of these without any hesitation. With K&M stands, I've never had problems with mic clips getting stuck so I can't un-thread them, or the thumb screws getting bound up because they were tighteded too much, or even the boom arm threads getting stuck because they're threaded into the top thread on the straight portion of the stand too tightly. That's because all of the threads (which are probably a rolled vs a cut thread) are ultra-smooth and don't have little "notches" that get locked up against a mating thread. It's also because they're a German manufactured product using German steel. Trust me, it makes a huge difference.I know, it's ONLY a dumb mic stand. Well, let a mic stand break when you don't have a spare, or get to a gig and discover several of your new "bargain" stands are broken. Let a mic clip break on one and when you get to the gig you can't get the darned thing off to put a new clip on. Let the stand that's your overhead on the drum kit sit there rattleing through a whole gig makeing a "tink tink tink" noise in the house sound. Then you'll have an idea what I'm talking about here.I said it above, and I'll say it again in closing. Just buy ONE of these stands. Check it out and use it. If you don't think it's well worth the money you spent then never buy another. I think you'll be glad you did a little hands-on research.

No need to ask a friend to come hold a boom for your latest video shoot. Well... Maybe you should keep him around, just in case.

This mic stand is tall, stable, and has a super long reach. I use it fully extended with the Rode nt-3, which is a fairly heavy mic, and have no worries about it falling over. Throw a couple sand bags over the base and it's the last thing you will worry about.

Comments about K&M 21020 Tripod Microphone Stand with Boom (Black):

It's heavy - but that also means (in this case) it's sturdy. too. Nicely finished, solid on its feet, can accommodate some heavier microphones. I use it for video work, attaching a shotgun mike and once even screwed a Yeti onto the end - and it held it very well.

We put one stand on each side of the anchor desk so the students can be heard without the mics showing in the camera shot. The tripods are adjustable and the clips help keep the cords in place.

I use this stand on stage for rehearsals and performances and for recording. Its sturdy build quality and tight adjustment clamps make this mic stand superior to the average budget stand and I have had no issues with imbalances, "drooping," or other mechanical failure. PROS: The stand is surprisingly light for its strength. There are at least four possible adjustments: base/legs; overall height of boom; angle and length of boom, and tightness of clip adapter. It looks sleek and professional and is clearly durable. It was also very easy to add a quick-release mic-clip adapter. The included cable clips are a nice touch. CONS: I have few if any negative comments to make, although for the price, I would have liked a telescoping boom and/or counterweight, particularly for studio use, but it excels on stage with no problems.

Significantly better quality than the cheaper mic stands I've used in the past. They've been working wonderfully as advertised. I'm very happy with my purchase.

                              Pretty much bulletproof.

The cams last forever, no drooping, stays up.
