Expensive lens, but definitely worth it.
Provides a super wide, distorted view. I recommend the Bayo mount version to prevent stress on the camera's threads. Originally designed for the Sony VX100, but can also be used with the VX2100 if modified or used with a bayoring adapter.

This is a great lens! I have been filming skateboarding,rollerblading, and bmx for years. This lens on the vx series cameras is top of the line for SD cameras. I absolutely love it. There is one thing that bothers some people and that is there is vignette. If you are going to be making a DVD or just mainly watching it on a t.v. you will barely see the vignette if at all. It doesn't bother me at all though. The only big flaw about this lens is that if you want to mount this lens on the vx2_00 series you have to either file the bayonet ring that comes with it and hope it works or you have to order one from like germany that fits it. If there was a way you had the option of which bayonet ring you could have it would be flawless.

I have been using this product primarily to film skateboarding/snowboarding with it mounted on my DCR VX1000, but have use it for side projects as well such as helping a friend make a music video and other small things. What makes this lens so great for me, is the fact that I no longer have to worry about cutting any heads off (cutting the skaters head out of the frame) due to the fact that this thing is so wide! 125 degrees is essentially prime for filming action sports. The only downside for me was the cost, but you have to pay up for quality, and this lens is downright phenomenal. It was worth every penny for me!

I am the owner of a business and I have had the newer MK2 lens on my VX2100 for a while and the difference from that MK2 to this MK1 is amazing!!! All you need is an adapter bayo ring and this lens and your set! We do all our filming with this thing and it's great! Nothing else compares. If your buying this for your vx1000 you do not need a bayo for it to fit your camera. If you have the vx2000 or 2100 then you do.

this lens is the ideal fisheye for professional skateboard and sports filmers. no other fisheye, not even the mark 2, measures up to the level of barrel distortion and extreme wide angle that the mark 1 encompasses. even if you have the vx2100/vx2000, definitely purchase this lens as well as the BAYO ring adapter, so you can fit it onto the later sony models. when you purchase and use this lens, you will be amazed at how your clips turn out compared to a raynox or a century mark 2. every filmer for every skate company has this lens for his VX.
Problems Encountered: no problems occur with my mark 1. the only possible problems that could occur is if you are filming close up (which you need to do with this lens) and a skateboard or something hits the lens, you run the risk of scratching or cracking the surface(which i have seen a couple times). its a bit expensive.

I have had my Mark 1 for about 6 months. When you first openthe packaging, you will be mezmerized and, renderedspeechless by its beauty. This lens is AMAZING. Haswonderful distortion, very, very wide angle of view. But,there are a few things to look for. When I first got mine, Inoticed that the metal ring that holds the glass in place,was not fully connected at one point and, now my lens hasfallen apart. Also, $800 DOLLARS for 2pieces of glass and some metal did appease the slightest bitbut, it's the lens required for what I do and, it is thestandard.
Problems Encountered: Metal ring fell out causing the lens to fall apart and scratch.
