The Cokin P-Series 154 Neutral Density Filter is a solid neutral grey filter providing an exposure reduction of about 3 stops. This 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
Cokin filters are constructed from CR-39 organic glass and are notably light in weight, have a high resistance to shocks and drops, and provide optimum light transmission for high image quality. This filter measures 3.3 x 3.3" / 84 x 84mm and is compatible with the Cokin P filter holder.

I purchased this product specifically for photographing waterfalls. With the use of this filter and a polarizer I was able to get the silky effect I was after. Many photographers recommended the 2 stop, but this 3 stop worked well for me when shooting in bright sun. The only drawback is it seems to attract dust.

I use this strictly for long exposure photography during the day. However, it adds a reddish color cast, which is sometimes pleasing and sometimes completely unwanted. It gets even worse if you pair this with a second neutral density filter of the same type to further reduce your exposure value. It's possible to remove the color cast in your processing software, but it's hard to get it to look exactly like the shot would look without the filter at all. This is called a "neutral densit" filter, yet it's hardly neutral. But remember, this filter is cheap, so you get what you pay for.

This filter is great for shooting ocean waves to make them look silky and foggy.
There is a slight color cast, but Photoshop takes care of that. I'm going to try to set a custom white balance next time I use it to compensate for the color cast.

I use the P154 for longer exposures during seascape photography. It slides in easy and does not create any color cast.

This is the best ND you can find for this price. It works very well, no color cast, very high quality resin, even with 5X zoom there is no sharpness loss. A little loss over 5X.
I use it for videomaking with Panasonic GH2.

Comments about Cokin P-Series 154 Neutral Density Filter:
The filter seems ok, but adds lots of red/magenta. It gets worse when you combine them.
The problem wasn't too noticeable with a waterfall shot I did, (mostly green moss and blur'd water). However the sunset/sunrise pictures are not even close to the actual colors. For the odd picture, it may look neat, but if you want a true ND filter. DO NOT GET THIS!!!!
I'm thinking about switching to another brand. This was cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

I use this filter for landscape, portrait, editorial, runway, nearly everything. It's great if you want to drop the exposure of the background 2 stops or get that beautiful landscape.

Although I have not been able to test this product for the known magenta cast that most reviews indicate, I will do so, and if a slight magenta cast is present, I will change the "K" value in the white balance to compensate.
I purchase 2 of the P154 Cokin filters to combine with the P153 for very long exposures for waterfalls and sunrises over water. I expect it to work as well as the P153 filter does, only better.

Comments about Cokin P-Series 154 Neutral Density Filter:
Obviously this filter does it's work when the light is too bright to keep a shutter open long enough to get the results you are looking for without stopping your aperture down completely. I use it for various reasons under different circumstances.

Comments about Cokin P-Series 154 Neutral Density Filter:
This ND filter was use to shoot motion blur on ocean water, and to darken the background for a fashion shoot on a bright day, while the model was well lighted with strobe lights. Perfect to bringing down a few stops while opening for a shallow depth of field. No Color discoloration or color shift while in use. Overall, great experience in using ND 8x resin filter by Cokin.

Use with both my medium format fil and digital work when I want the larger aperature but scene far too bright. Cokin system is great to switch out the various ND filters in much shorted time period than with screw on filters. Also minimizes post shoot work flow correction because greater accuracy going in when shot taken.

Comments about Cokin P-Series 154 Neutral Density Filter:
This is the only way to get shallow depth of field when working in confined spaces with studio strobes - when you're shooting as fast as your sync will let you and your ISO is as low as it'll go.
Also great for middle of the day shooting when you want to get motion in moving water shots and there's too much light.
As far as I can tell any image deterioration is negligible and certainly better than not getting the shot or spending time fixing it in post.
