So far, this is the best general purpose mic stand I've owned. Sturdy, and I don't think it's going to snap like my other stand did any time soon.

I'm currently using it in my home studio to hold up a MXL large-diaphram condenser - and it seems up to the task. Just don't fully extend the boom, or it'll tip over.

It's great, but you need to be careful mounting medium size mics on it without a counterbalance of some kind. If you'll only be using it for handhelds or drum mics, you'll be just fine.

I bought this stand and a similar On-Stage boom stand at the same time. The part that attaches the boom to the base stand on the QuickLok is plastic, and it breaks easily in storage because it can't handle any twisting and it is attached to a 30 inch lever. The On-Stage version has a metal part that doesn't just snap under stress.

I'm just going to buy an On-Stage boom for the base stand. As far as I'm concerned, the QuickLok boom is worthless.

This mic stand is good for the price. It is not the sturdiest thing in the world but it is not as flimsy as i expected it to be. Everything tightens fine. Definitely worth the money.

I do some home recording. This boom stand is perfect. Plenty of flexibility for position, nicely finished, basically does what it should. Only draw back would be heavy mikes and demanding stage use. It's not as sturdy as one might need for that. Perfect for my home studio.

Purchased two of these for my son who was starting a podcast. Didn't use them for 2 months after purchase. Then the boom swivel insert broke on one of them under its own weight while leaning up in the corner. The second one broke in the same place a month later while in use.

The tripod stand seems good, but the boom is useless. Using an On-Stage boom now with no problems.
