If you spend ANY time at all researching this bag it quickly becomes clear that it's one of a kind.

I pride myself on spending at least a few months researching before making any important purchases. The reality is there just weren't any other bags out that seemed to be able to match the F2.

Stunning reviews aside I was skeptical. Buzz is sometimes just that... buzz.

I'm please to say that it's not just hype.

    Inside my F2 I carry:

    - D90
    - 18-200mm VR
    - 50mm
    - 10.5mm Fisheye
    - SB800 Speedlight
    - 13 inch Macbook Unibody
    - Extra batteries, wires, manuals, etc
    - Back up GRD III
    - Fujifilm Instax w/ a bunch of extra film (Great for giving away with your business card when you're doing an event! Give people something they WANT to keep haha)
    - Bose Headphones and and my ipod.

Basically my point here is that all of my "need to have" gear and electronics go in this bag. AND I trust them in it.

I run around to different clubs and events in Shanghai and this bag barely gets a second look.

    Get it.

**Remember that this bag is low on padding and things can slide around. I use a camera wrap and a few other little bags/boxes to house things.

I am not clear why so many pros like this. I guess I will be the lone dissenter. On the outside it is a beautiful bag with dimensions that are PERFECT! And nice huge pockets.
    But:
    1) The 4 lens insert is too small for the width of many pro lenses with reversed hoods, any lens with a hood bigger than about 3" (this excludes Canon 70-200L F4, 24-70, 24-105, 24L, 100L, any many other pro medium size lenses). Maybe 1 can be fit, but not 2-4. You can remove the hoods, but then there is no place to put the hoods. If you jam them in there with the hoods on, it will stretch to fit, but you won't be able to get them out, and a 5DII will then be too tight in the camera compartment.

    2) With the insert installed, the remaining space is not large enough for a pro body with a lens on (1Dx, D3x). Who carries a bag like this around without a lens mounted. It is certainly not a bag designed for transport (little padding). It must it must be for active use.

    3) With the insert installed a 5DII, D700, or cropper will fit with a medium lens (lens pointing down). But there are no dividers to stabilize it or to utilize the space around the lens. And, it is not quite big enough to leave a quick release plate mounted.

    4) If you forgo the insert, there is not enough Velcro mounted to place your own divider system. So that means you have to individually encase the lenses for protection. This ruins any fast access to lenses.

    5) The "military grade" clasps are horrendous. They are sharp and awkward and time-consuming. They'd be fine for attaching a shoulder strap, but not for frequent access. They are sewed on. And, in my opinion mount backwards with easier clasping action then unclasping action. And while intending to keep caps on lenses in the case, if they fall off accidentally or you are in the process of changing lenses, the metal clasps can damage the lenses.

    6) If you don't like the shoulder strap, tough luck, it is sewed on. You could cut it off and mount your own on the D-rings. Really?

    7) I don't see any way to use this bag with a larger zoom lens like a 70-200 2.8 or 100-400.

Bag sizing is a highly personal taste. But, I think a good test of a bag in this size class is to get a F2.8 kit, a prime, and and a flash, plus a few accessories (ie 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 1-2 specialty pro prime (TS-E, 24L, 50L, 85L, 135, etc), and a 5D or D700 camera. This one fails miserably.

The perfect size on the outside. But to carry what? Certainly not a pro camera kit.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Olive Drab):

Have tried many different bags. Finally keep only 3: 1 roller case for events, 1 waistpack/backpack for backpacking, and 1 Domke F2 for everything else.

Einstein said, "Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler." The Domke F2 is exactly it.

I carry 2 D800's with 35 1.4 and 85 1.4 attached, plus whatever extras needed on different occasions.

I think the olive green fits me best. That's all.

Get the Domke 720-250D insert. Place the base plate inside this insert. BAM!

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

I ordered this bag secretly hoping that I would be able to deliver on all that it promised and still be functional to carry. It is perfect! It has so much space so that when I expand my collection of equipment, I will still be able to use the same bag. It's also easy to carry. Thanks Domke. This bag rocks!

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Sand):

The F-2 Domke bag is the perfect size for my photo gear. I fill it with my Olympus EM-5 (mirror-less camera) and six lenses. There's plenty of room left over for accessories.

I use this setup as a go-to bag in the back of my SUV. It's perfect as a storage bag when I'm on the road - just pop open the SUV'S tailgate, pull what I need out of the bag, transfer that stuff into a smaller bag - and I'm on my way walking to a nearby photo scene!

This bag is beautifully made - typical for Domke. It's perfectly designed for all photography situations, and the amount of equipment it holds is amazing! It has my highest recommendation.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Black):

This is my second Domke bag. I have the smaller, F 3, as well. When I recently went full frame, I found my original bag wasn't big enough for the D700 with the 24-70 lens attached. I read the reviews and decided to purchase another Domke bag because I felt so comfortable with my original bag, which still is in use with my D300s. The reason for 4 stars is that the 4 pocket insert doesn't work well with the lens on the body, so I purchased the 2 section insert. With the 2 compartment insert, I can get the camera with the lens on, plus two other lenses. The end pockets have plenty of room for flashes, charge cords, cleaning supplies, etc.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Olive Drab):

My main desire for this bag: Portrait and similar work where i can walk in, plop this on the ground and work. For walking around, I use a ThinkTank Belt system.

My first use was when a thunderstorm blew in (i didn't get many photos taken). But the main compartment stayed dry (when i didn't lift the lid to get something). We did do some shooting when it wasn't raining too hard.

The side pouches don't close as well as you might like, so don't put weather sensitive items there.

It's a little tight for stuff, and you have to buy adjustable dividers separately, but it works. I swapped out the inserts from my Kata reporter bag PR-440 REPORTER BAG (no longer made, hard to get...or I would have gotten a second one) for the stock inserts. works better. the Domke inserts are in the Kata bag. I know, crazy right?

it's barely tall enough for a canon 70-200f2.8. I have two 7ds in there, 16-35, 50mm and a flash. you could get a 2nd flash or similar sized item in there as well.

Overall, i do look forward to using it more. I would not recommend this as a carrying bag to work out of on your shoulder, but as a sit-down and work from bag, although i did buy the back straps, and they are reasonably comfortable.

My go-to bag when on the run and I need to carry a variety of lenses, bodies and flashes. You can stuff a lot in it and they hold up to wear and tear very well for the price. My only complaint is over the last decade, Domke seems to be cutting corners by scrimping on the size. I have an F-2 bag that is one of the original ones from years back and it was a lot roomier, now you can barely squeeze a flash in the front pocket. This is probably my last one to purchase because if they get any tighter my pads and equipment will not be easy to access.

I have my Domke F-2 bag in daily usage. Canon 5D MII fits with 1-2 additional lenses into bag without problems, shoulder strap is enough wide to divide the load. From my point of it is excellent bag not only for carring photo equipment due to removable inner part.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Black):

For my use, this bag is just about ideal. So far I've filled it with a Pentax K-5 (smallish DSLR), 70mm and 100 mm prime lenses, a 16-50 zoom lens, a full sized on-camera flash, and a small pile of accessories. And I still have room for more. Materials and construction are heavy duty and first rate; I can see why others report that these bags see long years of service.

Once adjusted to the proper length, the strap is comfortable and the bag fits snugly against my lower body. I do wish I could remove the shoulder strap if not needed, but to me this is very minor.

All in all, I'm glad I acquired the Domke F-2.

Comments about F-2 Original Shoulder Bag (Black):

I bought this bag after my first season as a second shooter, I use it to store my gear and everything I need throughout the day. I also use it for any other trips I go on. I have to admit this bag is the perfect size to carry around. And for those of you wondering, yes it can hold a canon 70-200 with no problem. I sore my second body plus 4 L series lenses with the divider Domke provides. Each side pocket can easily hold two flashes and the fronts are for whatever else you may need. The build quality is supurb, the canvas is very durable but flexible enough to mold to your body. The only thing that im not thrilled about is the front clips that lock the top down. They are rather stiff but I'm sure they will break in. Also with a 70-200 L in the bag the top cover is a bit awkward but still covers with no problem. I would advise tho if you plan on loading this bag up like I do get yourself a shoulder pad, or your shoulders will hate you!
