I bought this to carry my Canon 28-135 zoom lens. It fits the lens and it's lens hood perfectly . I have been using Domke bags for almost 30 years and I highly recommend this pouch.

I use it for carrying batteries and SD cards
Perfect match to my Domke bag.
I do not like the Velcro attachment though, so I replaced them with canvas - much more secure

Comments about Domke F-901 Compact Pouch (Sand):
The F-901 Compact was bought as a general purpose photographic pouch.Despite the title this is a big, airy, versatile pouch that can take stobe units, lenses and even small DSLR bodies. When teamed with the 720-200 mini insert or a protective wrap excellent protection is offered, although this cuts down on the capacity somewhat. D ring, wide belt loop and velcro loops give a multitude of attachment options. I'm a little concerned about the velcro fastening on the main flap which can gape and ping open when fully loaded-I loop and wrap a Domke belt around the whole pouch during travel to be on the safe side. Wonderful for popping a stobe onto your belt/bag during a photo session.

Comments about Domke F-901 Compact Pouch (Sand):
The Domke F-901 was bought as a general purpose photographic gear pouch. Despite the 'compact' title this is a big, airy piece of equipment which can take stobe units, lenses and even small SLR bodies! Twinned with Domke's mini insert or protective wraps it will provide cushioned protection although cutting down on capacity somewhat. The D ring, wide belt loops and velco straps allow a multitude of attachments. My only concern is the velcro flap fastener which could do with strengthening-to be on the safe side during travel I run a Domke strap/belt through the D ring and velco straps and around the pouch for 100% protection.
Comments about Domke F-901 Compact Pouch (Sand):
I purchased the Domke F-901 to use as a carrying case for my Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L which, when dismounted from the camera and capped on both ends, measures 7.5 long. The lens fits snugly inside the case with the tripod ring attached. I lined the case with 1/4 headliner material left over from an old automotive project for padding and shock protection. Domke's #720-200 padded insert is said to fit inside the F-901 pouch but I do not have it. I would like to comment that the insert appears to have hook and loop strips around the top outer edge and perhaps this is a means of securing it to other Domke inserts because the F-901 has no mating hook and loop strips inside it. I found that the inside dimensions of the pouch differ from those given in the product's description. The length of the F-901 pouch varies from the front of the case to the back panel of the case. The reason for this can be seen in the advertisement photograph. At the time of this writing the upper edge of the pouch has a downward slope from back to front. Advertised dimensions were given as 9L x 5W x 3D. The inside length of my pouch measures 8.5 at the back and 6.75 at the front. And while the inside depth from the front of the pouch to the back panel is 3 as advertised, 4.25 is the actual inside width of my pouch. With the 1/4 padding in place my lens with tripod ring fits securely without being too tight and the top flap closes over my lens with enough hook and loop material catching to stay securely shut. Domke's F-901 pouch appears well made of heavyweight cotton canvas. The stitching looks strong and complete. There are two hook and loop straps on the back which can hug around a shoulder strap of a bag or backpack and the belt loop can accommodate a belt up to 3 wide.
