People complain about Domke stuff at times because it "doesn't protect my gear." No, you are right. What it does is make it accessible in a smart fashion. Insurance protects your gear. I use my cameras, and like to be able to get them out quickly and this accomplishes that beautifully.

I purchased this insert to restructure my F2 compartment setup. I initially thought that I had ordered the incorrect insert as it did not seem to fit properly. Specifically the velcro to velcro tabs were not lining up. After verifying that I did indeed order the correct insert for the F2, I worked with it until it would fit, more or less. I would like to see a better fit but it is doing the job.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
I have three Domke bags (two F-2 and one F-6). I love them and their versatility. This insert is in one Domke F-2 bag along with the original insert. I like the versatility offered by the new velcro walls inside the insert. Nice touch, still with Domke quality. My only complaint is not really for Domke, but rather the big camera makers. Nikon lenses keep getting larger and larger front objectives and the new ones make it difficult to fully pack my F-2.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
I bought this insert to fully compartmentalize one of my Domke F-2 bags. It works like a charm. This insert is a change from the older styles in that the interior wall of the insert is (re)moveable. Therefore, there is really no reason to ever by the similarly-sized single compartment insert. I also use this as my only insert in my F-2 on occasions when I need to mount a larger lens on my DSLR or need to carry bulky items.
Like all Domke products I've used, it is well-constructed and I anticipate that it will give me many years of service.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
I bought this insert to replace the 4-compartment one that comes standard with the F-2. Indeed, when I leave my 24-70 attached to the camera, the 4-compartment insert is too large, not leaving enough space for the camera/lens combo inside the bag. The FA-220's description states that it is "Compatible with Domke F-2 Original shoulder bag". However, the fit is not great, since the insert has really been designed for other models (F-4AF or F-7). It is a bit taller (about an inch) than the 4-compartment insert, so that the velcro strip is higher than the one sewn on the bag sides. I had to vertically compress the insert in order to get it to grip to the sides of the bag. It worked in the end, but the width of the 2 compartments got somewhat reduced due to the compression.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
I bought this to use in a National Geographic W2160 (also bought from B&H). The bag's camera insert is only enough to hold a body with a lens, in addition to a flash/accessories/2nd small lens/etc. The rest of my lenses fit in the bag, but they kind of flop around and I was concerned about damaging them.
This insert (in additional the insert included with the NG bag) fits pretty nicely and holds my additional lenses, snugly, but comfortably.
I've heard complaints about the bottom having insufficient padding. I suppose it could have more, but it's not just a thin flap of nothing. The bag has bottom padding of its own, so, combined, it's certainly protected well enough in that sense.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
I replace the original 4-compartment that was included with the F-2 with this, so I can load 2 cameras with 2 77mm lenses attached, and this 2-compartment is put in the center for 2 extra lenses.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
This is a nice addition to my small bag. I do not want to carry a large bag so this was a good way to fit a few more things into my sachel bag in an organized way. I put 2 lens in and my camera to the side with lens attached. I feel a better protection as well.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
Adjusting my F2 to allow for a Canon 40D w/100-400mm attached to fit inside while still allowing me to carry an extra lens or two. Only issue is that it needs the hook-and-latch material along the long edge, too, allowing for the exact configuration I need. Still works and does the job, but not quite as secure as it could be.

Comments about Domke FA-220 Insert:
Fits everything I need. I can get my 70-200/ƒ2.8, without the hood, and a flash with diffuser or a smaller lens, but it's a little tight for the latter. I have this and the FA-210 in my F-802 and they both fit with room to spare. Now if the inside of you bag doesn't have any padding on the bottom you my want to consider something else of just making a little pad to put on the bottom. Anyway this is a great inset and anything Domke will serve you well for years to come.
