Canon ET-65III Lens Hood for EF 85mm f/1.8, 100mm f/2.0, 135mm f/2.8 SF & 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Lenses

You Pay: $22.99

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

If you bought the 85mm 1.8, then you definately need to purchase this lens hood to go with it. This hood is easy to attach and remove and seems to be well constructed. I like using a lens hood because I feel that it gives my lens a little extra protection as well.

i expected a bayonet style attachment, since i'm used to that with my other canon lenses...this is sort of cheesy...i know it's gonna break sooner or later because of the construction...it's ok, nothing better to say...frankly, i expected more from canon...i mean, how much more would it cost to build a quality product like other lenses? i only recommend this lens because there is nothing else canon makes that is better constructed..

The perfect companion for my Canon Lens, easy to put and even reverse and the lined interior makes you feel like a genuine luxury item, I am sure it will stop reflects the plastic alone hoods can't handle. Thank you B&H for ensuring this accessories as well, by the way your App is the best I have ever seen for a store.

Comments about Canon ET-65 III Lens Hood:

Got this for my 85 1.8... I wish Canon made this with the old twist and lock mechanism, since this push-to-lock thing can get a little tricky at times and possibly break over time. Once its on, however, it does stay on and due to its solid construction(both outside and inside)is well worth the extra cash over third party offerings.

Comments about Canon ET-65 III Lens Hood:

I really prefer the twist-lock hoods.

This newer design uses two push tabs and they are incredibly annoying to get lined up perfectly each time. It's not even like you can snap the hood on and then use the tabs to just remove the hood. You must use the tabs each time. The lock also seems very flimsy. I fear just carrying the camera on my shoulder and accidentally knocking into something would pop it off. The twist locks feel much more secure. I use hoods with all my lenses to protect against glare, debris, and fingers. This stupid locking design almost makes me want to throw it in the trash and risk the elements.

Why Canon designed something that uses more parts (translation - costs more money to manufacture) versus the established twist lock that was very simple, elegant, and secure is beyond me.

It works fine once it's on, but for some reason I have major issues getting it in place. As an event photographer, the last thing I want to do is be fiddling with lens hoods.

If the old ones exist with a traditional twist lock, then I suggest buying a used one of those. I'm already looking.

Comments about Canon ET-65 III Lens Hood:

I must admit that I much prefer the twisting style lens hoods. They seem more secured in place, and give the impression that they won't break if something hits them. This hood is not much more expensive thant than the third-party brands, and has a velvety material on the inner surface which should help preventing light from bouncing around.

Comments about Canon ET-65 III Lens Hood:

I would prefer a twist on lens hood much like my other L lenses. This hood clips on falls off easily if you set the camera down. Overall the build quality feels a bit flimsy so I'm not sure how well this hood will do to actually protect the lens should it get dropped or bump into anything. The hood will easily pop off and not provide much protection for the lens.

After trying a cheaper brand, I must say, there ain't nothing like the real thing. While I'm disappointed Canon does not include this with the relevant lenses, this is a good hood. It is actually possible to attach and detach this hood in a reasonable amount of time, and the felt lining inside is perfect for the job of absorbing light.

It may be little to expensive but I actually was suprised that it is a new version.
It has two buttons that U need to squeez to put or remove it from lens.
And it has fabric inside which is anti reflective and helps catch small pieces of dust.

This hood works great on my Canon 85mm 1.8. I was pleasantly surprised by the push-button operation instead of the usual twist-on/twist-off operation of most Canon lens hoods.

Unlike other canon hoods, this does not fall off accidentally due to its locking hood style. This is a great design and should be used on all Canon lenses.

This lens hood was bought with my Canon 85mm f1.8 lens, and has been a royal pain in the butt from day one. It is difficult to attach to the lens, falls off, and two of the little clamps just broke off, so now it is useless.

It is poorly made and a waste of money. I need to buy something else, because it won't stay on the lens. It's junk, at least my copy was.

Comments about Canon ET-65 III Lens Hood:

Does the job and is much easier and quicker to attach and remove than the screw on filter thread type.
The retaining clips are week and liable to break and in fact, a used one I ordered arrived with two broken clips and was returned.
The later bayonet type is much stronger but not an option for some of my lenses.
I would check out the cheaper offerings from after market manufacturers and see if they are better.
Canon charge a premium price for something that should be included with all their lenses, they could do better.

Comments about Canon ET-65 III Lens Hood:

I wish the hood had a better mount than the push-button design. Attaching the hood quickly can be cumbersome. I would have preferred a bayonet design and a more sturdy plastic or metal built. The surface scratches very easy even with gentle use.

Used on my Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 this hood helps with flare but does not match the built quality of the lens.
