This is a cheap lens. The AF is slow, there is plenty of distortion when shooting wide open, especially at 300mm. Most of the problems with this lens is at 300mm. It is soft, the corners are really bad.

That said, stopping down to f11 really does help. But at 300mm and f11 on a cloudy day is going to require ISO's up to 3200.

Here is the cool thing, the softness is not too big of a deal if your images are going on the web or small prints. And really, for this price it is very hard to beat. To dramatically jump in quality your looking at something like an EF 100-400 or Ef 300 f4, both around 10 times the price.

This is a great addition for my backpacking camera gear. It is easy to use and light enough for me to pack. I do not have the budget for the expensive lens and have to be careful of damage in my backpacking and climbing trips. The price was superb, even better than [*] had.Thank you B&H!

Fits my Canon 4ti per spec. Lens feels more sturdy and zoom adjusts nicer than the stock 18-55 that came with camera. Parents from my son's Flag football team are amazed with the action shots I'm sharing.Good value for an entry level guy like me. Book the order Dano!

I use this lenses for shots that are somewhat distance that I can't reach. one thing I like about it is that the focus is clear when it zoomed at 300mm. I can say the one thing that should change is to zoom out a little more so I don't have to keep switching lenses.

Got the Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro to replace my Canon 75-300m usm as the Canon seemed soft and not clear and sharp as any of my other Sigma lenses! Well this one is also. Am now a happy puppy, as it's very clear, tack sharp and great color . From 70mm to 300mm. Love the Marco ability. It's fast to focus. Easy to zoom and smooth.
I can't find anything that's in any way a problem or complaints.

For the price, this is a decent, if not perfect, option. The macro function is nice but a little clunky. This is my second Sigma lens and I've been happy with both.

I bought this camera for my husband for his birthday. He's a beginning photographer and I had given him his first 35mm for Christmas. He hasn't stopped taking pictures since I gave this to him and walks around saying "this lens is great!"
I love Canon, but a comparable Canon lens would be over $1,000. Sigma has become my favorite specialty lens for that exact reason.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for Canon EOS:

I've only had the Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for a few weeks and I can tell you it will be a favorite of mine. I currently use it on a Canon T3i. I haven't done a lot of macro photography but even my first few attempts with this lens, hand held in daylight, turned out nice and sharp. It is heavy though so I can see using it on a tripod more often then not. I would have given it 5 stars except for two things; 1) It is heavy and 2) It doesn't have image stabilization. The price though more than compensates for the minor drawbacks. I picked this lens because of the reviews and they were spot on. The color is good and the diffused backgrounds make for great shots..

For [$], this is a great lens. Pictures are sharp, it doesn't weigh a ton, and it doesn't break your bank. Since I'm a telephoto guy and in college, this is my default lens for the time.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for Canon EOS:

Needed a long zoom for my son's soccer games and other long distance nature shots while Boy Scout camping. For its price range, the auto focus is adequately quick. Zooming is smooth. It feels pretty sturdy unlike several other Zooms I checked out in a similar price range. Wish it had Stabilzation, but, for what I use it for, it's not a big deal.

Comments about Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for Canon EOS:

Although I haven't had this lens very long, I can already tell that it was a great buy. It does all that it promised it would with wonderful quality. My mother bought it for me as a Christmas gift and I have been testing it out since the moment I opened the package. It's a bit heavy, but that's the be expected. What it lacks in lightness it makes up for in quality.
