The MS-12 is the power supply for the Nikon F100. It takes 4 AA batteries [lithium, alkaline, or rechargable alkaline]. It keeps the batteris firmly in place while removing and inverting the battery pack, which is very helpful when in a hurry interchanging packs during the action of a photo shoot. Having three battery packs loaded in the camera bag, ensures I always have power when needed.
The only problem is the end pressure plate is not made of a strong enough material to not bend and break over time. During use the springs push the ends back as the batteries warm with use. This is especially true with rechargable alkalines.
The MS-12 is samll and durable enough to last several year with out problems. Due to my use in weddings and bird photography, I generaly get 4-5 years. With landscape use, I am still using the original MS-12 that came with the camera.
Buy it again? Definitely. Even though there are large battery packs available, the battery chamber insert and cord tie me down when speed is necessary.
Best wishes.

This is a "must have" item for the F100,since there is no alternative if you wish to operate the F100 in its most compact mode. I have purchased several spares, hoping they will be available for awhile. I have had a couple break. Because this item is fragile I sometimes find it difficult to lock into place, perhaps because I tend to "baby"it.

Fits the Nikon F100 film camera perfectly. Get a few MS-12 AA for your bag if you don't want to shuffle around 4 AA batteries when you run out of power.

Comments about Nikon MS-12 AA Battery Holder:
The rubber gasket on the bottom of the battery holder that came with my F100 stretched out and got in the way while shooting. The original [*] out but the replacement is OK. It always pays to have an extra one of these loaded with fresh batteries any way.

Comments about Nikon MS-12 AA Battery Holder:
I cannot believe that I could find this online. Living in Hong Kong for the past couple of decades, you only see the latest accessories or products in store or get seriously over charged for a second and item. I only wish I could have found one for my F4 as well. Anyway, as this is a flimsy element of the camera, I was not taking any chances, I bought two!

Comments about Nikon MS-12 AA Battery Holder:
This is the biggest con of the F100. This battery holder just doesn't seem solid to me. I haven't broken one, so time will tell. It may be fine. Otherwise, I wonder if the vertical grip has a beefier battery setup...although I prefer to avoid the bulk. I would recommend grabbing a spare if you have an F100. Also good to have another battery pack loaded and ready to go.

Comments about Nikon MS-12 AA Battery Holder:
This is a replacement battery holder for the F100. Chances are you need this piece because (like me) you bought the MB-15 grip and subsequently lost the MS-12. So...if I had a gripe it would be that Nikon couldn't figure out a way to make the MS-12 unnecessary, kind of like the MB-20 and MB-21 for the F4.
But functionally, there are no complaints - it works exactly as advertised.

Second one of these. A bit flimsy in construction compared to the rest of the F100. Wish it was made out of metal. Hope I don't break it again with a 2 foot drop from a camera bag.
