The Singh-Ray 84 x 84mm LB Color Intensifier Filter is an enhancing filter designed to enrich local color contrast in specific regard to warm colors as well as greens. The filter strives to boost the intensity of those specific colors while maintaining a natural rendering of other neutral colors as well as white tones within the scene.

The LB designation of this filter stands for "Lighter, Brighter", which refers to the lower optical density of the filter that enables shorter shutter speeds or smaller f/stops to be used when the filter is in place. The brighter design of the filter also enables a brighter viewfinder image to aid in composition as well as improves auto exposure and focusing performance. This filter requires an additional 0.3 stop exposure for normal results.

Singh-Ray rectangular filters are constructed from high-quality CR-39 optical resin for notable image quality and clarity. This filter measures 3.3 x 3.3" / 84 x 84mm and is compatible with Cokin P filter holders.

Comments about Singh-Ray 84 x 84mm LB Color Intensifier Filter:

Hmmm the good side it does pretty much what the Singh-Ray site says it does. Reds, yellows and greens become more intense. When combined with a polariser you can achieve excellent colour saturation. It does amazing things to sunsets.

On the down side, the filter hammers your exposure by about two stops. Add a polariser and you are down about 3.5 stops, so a tripod or really intense lighting is needed.

Unlike Cokin filters, this product is made from glass. Of course, glass can be broken - and this is no different. It has to live in a rigid box (not the silly scratch-pouch that Singh-Ray supplies.) My filter barely fits the Cokin holder - it is perhaps a millimetre oversize - so that every time I install it I worry that it may slip from my fingers. I know one photographer who has experienced this.

My take is that if you're a purist and don't like adjusting the image in post processing, it's ok but I think the same effect can be achieved in Lightroom or Photoshop without spending an extra dime.
