  • Aluminum/Magnesium/Titanium Alloy
  • 30.2mm Maximum Diameter Segments
  • 70.1" Working Height

Using a "Tri-Titanium" aerospace alloy compromised of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, the Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs has a strength-to-weight ratio 40% greater than comparable tripods in its class.  It is a very professional unit whether you're concerned with strength, fit and finish, or refinement of operation.  The rapid-type center column cannot rotate accidentally, and the lever locks work securely with a minimum of movement.  The 700DX has foam-padded upper segments to ease carrying on your shoulder and working in the cold, and its simple angled rubber leg tips give a firm footing while also allowing you to carry it upon some aircraft.

A professional's legset with 30.2mm maximum diameter upper segments
Dual alignment grooves on all leg segments eliminate leg twist and increase strength
Individual 3-position leg angle locks for low angle work or use on uneven terrain
Rubber leg tips for maximum traction outdoors, protect indoor surfaces, and allow you to carry the tripod upon a commercial aircraft (many airlines prohibit spiked tripods of any length)
Working height of 70.1" puts camera's viewfinder at or above eye level for most users
Two-part center column allows lower minimum operating height
Maximum Height 70.1" (178.0cm)
Maximum Height w/o Column Extended 55.1" (140.0cm)
Minimum Height 10.8" (27.5cm)

The Slik 700DX is an outstanding value! I bought the legs-only for less than [$]! Even the full assembly with head is less than [$]. I have several friends that have the complete tripod, so I am very familiar with it. I mounted a large Manfrotto ball head and couldn't be happier, although the combination becomes quite heavy compared to the Slik version. I love the silky action of the legs, the side clips for locking are very fast and sure, the adjustable collar for center post tension and the overall rock steadiness. I also like the rubber feet instead of spikes. The only thing I don't like is that the first opening position of the leg spread is a little tight. There are two other stops for widening the legs, and that's fine, But I would prefer a few more degrees of spread on initial opening. That is a very, very small complaint. It could use a decent shoulder strap. No complaints on function or appearance. I give it 5 stars out of 5 for function, reliability and value.Definitely superior to my Sanford & Davis' Magnum and Bogen 3011.My big Bogen 3051 is going to get a lot less use!

I purchased this tripod based on its load capacity rating for use with a gimble type lens support and large telephoto lenses. Once in use it's of my opinion that the load rating for this unit may be slightly over-stated. I have since switched my equipment around utilizing this tripod with lighter camera systems and thereby acheiving very good results. I would recommend this tripod to the casual photographer but as a professional there may be limits to its use.

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

This is a very solid, well made, sturdy tripod. Very little vibration. Only complaint is legs are a tad stiff when opening out in to position. I am betting this is adjustable but I have not investigated yet. Really not a problem, just a nit pick.

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

I wanted an extremely well made, rock solid tripod for my heavy camera gear and, potentially, video equipment. This tripod completely satisfies those needs. "Hefty" is how I'd describe it. It's tall, so I can extend it to take shots at eye level - I'm 6'1" - without sacrificing stability. If you're looking for a lightweight tripod, or one that folds up really small, this is not a good choice. Would buy it again and highly recommend it.

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

Very sturdy tripod. I'm 6'3" and it extends high enough to comfortably shoot upward to capture moonscapes.
It is a heavy unit, so I would recommend the $45 bag to go with it, as the included bag is lightweight and thin, but also only has centered handles and can not be carried on the shoulder.

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

Solid build with more than enough height for the average shooter definitely something any shooter taller than 6' or so will enjoy.

I have been using for 10-30 second exposures with no problem.

Only knock is leg position locks. They seem like they could be built a little better but they have not been a problem so far.

I use this tripod for my D7100 & my biggest lens (Nikon 55-300mm) mounted on a Sunpack pistol grip w/ball head (this a legs only tripod). This is a very stable tripod and love that is will adjust above eye-level (I'm 6' tall). Yes it is a little heavy, but that's what you want. Didn't buy it to carry it hiking or anything. Haven't use the low level configuration yet, but like the option. Nice to have a case with it even though it's a little on the cheap side. Very good product for the price.

i was looking for a handy, portable, light-weight but sturdy and solid tripod for shooting with DSLRs for weddings. I have a couple of much heavier and bigger tripods but doing weddings really need a tripod that provides with good stability. This tripod satisfies everything on my checklist: it folds small, light weight, stable and it's easy and quick to set up. It's good handling most of the light-weight DSLRs for video shoots.

Great value. It gets 4 stars because of the angle control switches at the top of the legs that came loose during transportation, however once locked - they stay in place. Also could use a better carrying bag. Overall I'm happy with the product.

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

My instructor recommended these legs to me as they are the ones he uses. They've proven to be durable and steady. But tripod legs are suppose to be those things. What I like best is that the legs are padded so they are comfortable in tow and it stands tall. For those with bad backs like me who don't like hunching over this is great news. For me the price is right, especially compared to some other legs that do the same thing. My only complaint is that the are heavy, so if you plan on hiking with a tripod you might want to spend the extra money on a graphite build.

I use my tri-pod a lot for landscape scenery. I love this tri-pod as it is rock steady. It is not the lightest tri-pod but it holds my D7000 firmly, even with the column extended, I am very happy with my purchase. Its also an excellent price for limited budgets.

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

This is a great tripod for the price. I was amazed at how sturdy and heavy duty this thing is. I was wary buying it without seeing it first, but felt pretty confident based on others reviews. I use the tripod at the shooting range to hold a Kowa TSN-2 spotting scope which is a good size and weight for spotting scope standards. Very sturdy and I don't have to worry about it blowing over in high winds. I also like how low to the ground it adjusts so I can use it while shooting prone, which is a huge plus. I also like how high it adjusts too. I use the scope sometimes at night to look at the moon and stars and being a straight scope without an angled eyepiece I was worried I would have to crouch over to use it for that. Not so at all. I am 6'3" and I can stand straight up and look through the scope aimed upright at the sky. The included carrying bag is also a nice plus. Thanks for a great product Slik and B&H Photo!

Comments about 700DX Pro Tripod Legs (Black):

I am an avid photographer taking pictures of Wildlife, Scenery and Micro photography subjects like insects and plants. The 700dx legs provide a very stable platform for my large lenses and have the flexibility to get down low and close for my micro shots with its 2-piece center column and independent legs. The only drawback I see is its weight. If you're hiking around it can get a little heavy, but the padded legs help ease the load.

I have owned a lot of tripod legs over the years and these are very well made and far cheaper than comparable tripod legs. This is my second set since I now have once set dedicated to a video head.
