The Anton Bauer HyTRON 100 is a Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery. NIMH provides the highest energy density cells available. An on-board "Fuel Computer" is built-in to the HyTRON 100 to keep a constant vigil on the battery energy I/O, as well as critical operating characteristics and conditions.

LCD
An integral LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) accurately displays the percentage of remaining battery capacity at all times.
Viewfinder Fuel Gauge
Virtually all new cameras and camcorders available feature the Anton Bauer Interactive System which uses the batteries built-in Fuel Computer to display an accurate Fuel Gauge of remaining battery capacity in the viewfinder.
14.4 Volts
The 14.4 VDC design of the HyTRON battery complies with equipment manufacturers specifications, eliminating all 12 VDC battery problems. Virtually all cameras and camcorders will indicate a low voltage warning or cease to operate at about 11 VDC. A 12 VDC battery must be discharged to 10V for a full discharge.
Construction
A computer designed high impact case eliminates conventional stress points. This feature protects the cells from impact that would damage or destroy conventional batteries.
Testing
Each battery includes a computer print-out of the individual batteries test results. The pre-ship factory testing of each battery offers assurance of optimum capacity, voltage and overall quality.

We had to replace our 6 year old Anton Bauers with a new set for our Sony DSR 250's. We had the choice between the Dionics and Hytrons, and based on the fact that we use them to end of life we went with the Hytrons. The staff at AB were helpful in explaining that while the Dionics are a great battery, they only have an 18 to 30 month life span by their standards, where the Hytrons are more around 4 to 5 years. These will likely outlast the cameras, but I won't have to worry about them dying prematurely.

We have to film in 2 days and the manual included with the battery says the HyTRON battery can only be charged with a software chip upgrade (revision 3.4 or higher) on our charger (states any Titan series charger)! They list most of their chargers! Then they say to call Customer Support (203) 925-4991! This would have been nice to know BEFORE I bought the battery!

Comments about Anton Bauer H100 Digital HyTRON 100, NiMH Battery:

Great battery, as expected. This is my third Anton Bauer battery that I purchased. If you don't need the extra long runtime of the Hytron 140, this is a good choice, at a much lower price! However, this battery weighs about the same as the Hytron 140.

Comments about Anton Bauer H100 Digital HyTRON 100, NiMH Battery:

These batteries are too big when mounted directly to the back of an RED Epic body. Their size prevents you from being able to reload the side SSDs with the plate still on the camera.

Comments about Anton Bauer H100 Digital HyTRON 100, NiMH Battery:

I like the new digital batteries from A/B... The readout display is wonderful. However, the battery is also quite heavy and actually weighs more than my JVC GY-HM700u. On bigger broadcast cameras that might be a good thing, but on the smaller 1/3" cameras it actually tends to throw it a little out of balance.

Also, note that this battery WILL NOT work with third-party chargers that don't support A/B's new digital technology.

We've had 6 of the HyTRON 100s for going on 5 years now. They've been put through the wringer and still operate like champs. Performance has dropped some from when they were new, but that's the nature of batteries. I highly-recommend a charger with a DDM chip to keep them in optimum condition, though.
