Comments about Dry Lam Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue (24.5" x 50yd Roll ):

I needed to mount about 30 prints for an exhibition in Chicago. The prints were made on Epson Signature Worthy Premium Luster paper with Ultrachrome K3 inks.I had several people tell me NOT to use heat with EPSON paper and ink...that if the temp got to hot, the inks could literally boil on the paper.I found that this dry mount tissue worked well, however. I kept the temperature of the press between 160 and 175 and could see no adverse effect on the prints. The mounting was flawless. I would recommend this. The only problem I ran into was when mounting very large prints. Humidity in the boards (I live in Houston where it's very humid) made the boards warp when hot. Between 150 and 160 degrees, the warp was enough to pull the prints away from the boards; I noticed a little bubbling. The solution was simple, however. I dialed up the temp a bit and put the work back in the press. At 160 degrees, everything was bulletproof.

Comments about Dry Lam Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue (24.5" x 50yd Roll ):

Speaking from experience, using dry mount tissue designed for standard papers with inkjet papers risks producing cracks and bubbles. That's because these tissues have a bonding temperature in the vicinity of 180 F. Colortac bonds at 165 F which is perfectly safe for a 30 to 40 second interval in the press. I obtain consistently flat, permanent bonds with this product and never any damage to my prints. Furthermore, Colortac is relatively inexpensive and you can count on B&H to ship immediately. I am not aware of any drawbacks to using this fine product.

Comments about Dry Lam Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue (24.5" x 50yd Roll ):

Until I found this product my mounting press needed to be set at 210 degrees, this was fine when mounting my black and white photos, color RC paper and prints from my Epson printer looked like there was a slight color shift because of the high temperature. Colortac Mounting tissue only needs a setting of 165 degrees and I see no color shift at all.

Comments about Dry Lam Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue (24.5" x 50yd Roll ):

I use Colortac to mount large (24" x 60") fine art ink jet photos. The low temp (I use 170 degrees) does not effect the inks but adheres well to museum board and foamcore. My press is 18" x 24" so it takes several passes. This can lead to minor overlap marks. I just put the print back in the press and the mark is gone.
Removal (at 210 degrees) is not quite so easy but doable (thus they can call it archival, but most experts say no mounting tissue is truely archival).
It is definitly the best low temp tissue I've seen.

Comments about Dry Lam Colortac Dry Mounting Tissue (24.5" x 50yd Roll ):

I was looking for a dry mount tissue compatable with ink jet photo paper and this is the one. For more than half the price of the others it does the same job. I mount prints at approx. 180 degrees or less for 1 1/2 minutes for a complete bond and no damage to to print. The tissue looks like white Kraft paper, not translucent like all the other tissues I have used but don't let that bother you. It works exactly the same. I always put pressure on the print untill it cools but don't know if it is necessary. Good stuff--good price.
