The B+W 67mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

Kaesemann-type filters feature greater optical efficiency than regular polarizing foils and are more neutral in color. The polarizing foils are cemented between plano-parallel optical glass layers, which are then precision-polished to achieve the most accurate plano-parallel surface. This edge sealing protects the filter layers from humidity and are ideal for use with high-speed telephoto and apochromatic lenses.

The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. The slim filters are specifically designed for use with wide angle lenses and are only 0.2" / 5mm thick. They do not have front threads for stacking additional filters.

Note: This filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size, and because of this you may be unable to attach the lens manufacturer's bayonet-mounted lens hood to the lens while using this filter. This is dependent on your specific lens and how thick the front rim of the lens is; with thinner, low-profile lenses usually being affected more.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.
Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.
Kaesemann polarizing foils provide highly neutral coloring and higher image quality than conventional polarizing foils.
Multi-Resistant Coating offers both protection to the glass and helps to improve light transmission and image quality.
Constructed from high quality Schott glass for optical clarity.
Lightweight, slim aluminum filter ring measures 5mm thick to help reduce vignetting.

Comments about B+W 67mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer Slim MRC Filter:

This is my first polarizing filter, so I'm still playing with it learning how to use it to its full potential. B+W came highly recommended from friends and B&H had a good price. It's done nicely so far.Things to know:B+W ships the filter with a small case so there is no reason to buy a second case (I made this mistake). You may still want one but at least try it out and you may save yourself a few bucks. As this is slim, there is no way to attach a regular lens cap, so... Plan ahead.

Pricey, sure. But after a lot of reading about filter comparisons, these were ranked high. Had it a week. Easy to put on. The polarizing plate has a nice solid action that takes getting used to. Will keep in place with accidental bumps, unlike my old one.

Purchased filter for my Nikon 16-85mm lens for a trip to Arizona. The days that we were there were bright sunshine with few clouds. I utilized the filter to darken the skies while shooting giant Saguaro cactus against a clear sky. The filter performed beautifully resulting in even
deep blue skies. The outer ring could easily be turned with the lens hood in place. Buy it!

Comments about B+W 67mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer Slim MRC Filter:

The filter works amazingly well. The clarity is phenomenal! I had researched quite a bit prior to purchase-what it all boils down to is preference by using what is tried and true. B+W produces an amazing product, very clear, easy to use and I couldn't be more happy with the filter! The only possible downside would be that the cover does pop off easily if bumped, even slightly. That the only issue I've had. Enjoy using it and will leave it on my 17-85mm wide angle lens often! Will post later if any issues develop, however don't foresee that happening. Awesome filter and price! Thank you B&H Photo!
