Comments about Mamiya 58mm Front Lens Cap for 645-AF:
Well, I own Zeiss lenses so that makes me pretentious and a wannabe elite. So when I lost the cap for my Planar 50, there was no way I would put a Canon lens cap with its worthless side pinchers on it. Because I'm a snobby Zeisss owners, I couldn't bring myself to put perfectly acceptable center pinch caps from Nikon, Olympus or Pentak because of their lesser brand markings.
No, no! Nothing btu the best for my big metal manual darling. However... the replacement Zeiss cap, like most everything else Zeiss markets, is ludicrously priced. Enough so that I could stop being picky and try something else.
Mamiya! Now there's a name that gets my hipster blood flowing! Heck, it fits better than the stock Zeiss cap did, even. Best part is that now everytime I pull out my 50, I feel like I'm Cindy Sherman. Just a little.

The cap is simple and does it's job. Well built, with a slightly awkward way of clipping on to the lens. Overall, it's a quality product and a good replacement.

Love how it fits the 58mm thread of the filter I had on my Canon 50mm 1.4 lens. The center-pinch design makes removing the cap easier on lenses with hoods attached. This means I can store lenses with hoods in the face-forward position to facilitate faster lens-changes in the field. I would give this a shot if you're in the market for a cap from another brand besides Canon. I imagine this will be the same for Nikon, since the same filters I'm using would also fit a Nikon lens with 58mm front thread.
