For the simplest plug and play functionality, MOTU's FastLane USB 2 x 2 MIDI interface for the Mac and PC is hard to beat. A unique advantage at this price point is the ability to still function when the host computer is switched off - which means musical ideas can be worked on without having to wait for the computer to power up. The FastLane USB takes full advantage of the USB architecture, providing increased MIDI throughput, better timing accuracy, support for "hot-swapping" and plug-and-play expansion. When the need arises for more ins and outs, it is simply a matter of adding more units or even other fully featured multi-port USB interfaces.

Comments about MOTU FastLane (USB) MIDI Interface:
I tried using a cheaper product from M-Audio. It didn't work for my MAC. If you need to have a midi input/output for your mac and don't need many in's or out's this is perfect. I'd give it five stars, but [$] is a bit much for this product. But then again, it works!

Comments about MOTU FastLane (USB) MIDI Interface:
This product worked well (especially considering for what I'm doing--sending tempo clock signals from Ableton -- didn't work with the M-Audio Uno or 1 by 1). Unfortunately when we tried to chain another computer to the clock the signal didn't send (you need an additional midi splitter) It's a little pricey at 60 but at least it works unlike the MAudio stuff!!

Comments about MOTU FastLane (USB) MIDI Interface:
After having reliability issues with another vendor's MIDI to USB adapter I found the FastLane-USB. I am running Windows-7 64-bit. The installation and configuration was a breeze. The base application, Adobe Audition and the MIDI device a Mackie Control Universal DAW immediately established communications as hoped. Thus far I have experienced no connectivity or latency issues. I highly recommend the FastLane MIDI to USB interface device.
