        Comments about SP Studio Systems Excalibur 6400 - 640 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):

Have been School Photographer since 1971. Worked for some of those Big Companies. You name it I have used it. Have been using (2) Excalibur 3200 and (1) 1600 for my own side gigs since 2002. Have had no problems. Just used the 6400 yesterday with 2'x4' Softbox attached. Did 800 shots with no problems. Yes, the recycling time may not be real quick at full power, but I'm not clicking every 5 seconds. I go by my experiance. Was shooting at a school several months back. Power connector on White Lightning was loose on circuit board. Pluged in power cord to back of unit and BOOM! So what I am getting at to some it up is a VW may get you from A to B just as well as a BMW.

          Comments about SP Studio Systems Excalibur 6400 - 640 Watt/Second Monolight (120VAC):

I have used two of these lights for over TEN YEARS now, without a problem. Consistent light, and so very easy to use. One even fell over from about 6 feet, and everything it hit, broke, but the Excalibur 6400 had no problems! And that was over four years ago.

Have two of the 6400 model units. Beat them to death for four years in a studio. They still work great today. Good price. If they die I will replace with the same.

I own the 1600 and the 6400. The 6400's capacitors go out regularly. After the warranty goes out cost approx. [$]to get it repaired. Never have trouble with the 1600's. Have had them for about 4 years. The 6400's been repaired about 10 times. Shopping for a different brand today.

I purchased the 6400 kit three years ago and they have performed well. They have one issue; they can blow out capacitors without a surge protector installed on each light so use one. They are sensitive to voltage fluctuations. I blew out one light, sent it in for repair and it has performed flawlessly ever since, so always use a surge protector on each light and you will have no problems.I drag them around on many location shoots and they always work.

                        Items I Recommend: Surge protector
