Comments about Shure M447 Competition Turntable Cartridge:
Shure makes great cartridges and M447 is one of them. While I'm not a real picky audiophile, this cartridge sounds great. I bought this for a teenager who was getting into "vintage" vinyl. We had bought an old turntable and he was complaining that it just didn't sound good, certain sounds were muffled. After he had tinkered with it and replace the stylus on the original cartridge, we bought him a new M447 cartridge. He was finally happy with the sound of the old turntable.

Comments about Shure M447 Competition Turntable Cartridge:
Bought 2 for pair of Audio Technica tables. Looks fuddy-duddy to some of the other cartridges, but for a limited budget this cart. is awesome! Well made, good sound quality, and durable. Only recommendation may be to purchase the Shure mounting accessory kit, for an extra set of screws and washers. Other than that, this products does what it says from the start!

Can't be beat for the price! Not the most hi-fi cart, but tracks excellent and is perfect for timecode vinyl. I also use it to rip vinyl with my TTXUSB with excellent results.

Comments about Shure M447 Competition Turntable Cartridge:
I know the price seems like a bit of a pocket drain, but honestly these needles are the best. Shure created these needles with the intention to allow a DJ to scratch and play records over and over again with very little wear on the vinyl. The needles are heavy duty and are able to take a bit of a beating, especially with the nifty, clear, plastic needle guard you can drop down when not in use. I have had people bump into the turntables during a show, skipping the tonearm across several songs, without more than a hairline marking on the record. I thought for sure some of my vinyl was ruined, but the needle left almost no damage to the sound quality of the skipped song. On top of it's ability to stand up to the tests of time with repetitive use, the needle itself is quite sensitive to the little sonic nuances. I have used it on everything from the newest heavy vinyl to the most fragile of ceramic 78's. Try using these needle to listen to The Beatles, "White Album, " and you'll hear instruments and sound effects you couldn't hear before! This needle is also capable of accentuating some pretty deep bass levels. I know some people prefer the sleeker looks of other headshells and cartridges over this boxy number, but when it comes down to the good ole' bang for your buck, this needle is it!

Comments about Shure M447 Competition Turntable Cartridge:
Definitely the best scratch cartridge that is available for any dj that decides to learn how to scratch. I had been using stanton v500s before, and the difference is profound in the way the 44-7's hold the groove so well.Keep in mind that they do take a little while to break in, and so tend to skip a lot at first, but mess around for several hours with them, and they start working wonders. The sound is great, and I'd say definitely worth the price to spend a little more on these cartridges.Great buy. Sidenote: Also comes with a needle brush, and the screwdriver needed to install them. The instruction manual on how to install them is a little bit misleading, as they led me to put the screws in upside down. I'd look it up on youtube, how to setup a cartridge, so you get a visual of how to do it. Other thing that would be nice would be a cartridge case, but I do know that there are packages that include that. Definitely get these, anyhow. Packaging is way cool.
