Basically, you fill out your address info on the envelope, drop your film cartridge in there, toss it in a mailbox, go find something to do for a week, and voila, professionally processed and printed pictures in your mailbox, wrapped in plastic to keep them dry and pressed between two pieces of cardboard to keep them from getting bent. Will definitely use again in the future.

[...]The prints were OK ... not the best I've seen, but not bad either. They are only proofs, after-all.They cut the negatives into strips of six frames, which is how I do it at home - so good news to me.The negatives were in good condition - no scratches or anything like that. I've seen them come back in terrible shape from other places.I think I'll send them another roll or two before I make up my mind, but so far I have mixed feelings... Mostly due to the long lead time and less than stellar prints. If all you really want is the negs - I would use them again without hesitation. The prints leave a little to be desired, but they serve their purpose (proofs).

Frankly, I was not expecting the processing to be so well done. Turn around time was 11 days, and that's from SE Mass to CA and back. Prints were properly exposed, negs were clean and unscratched, the little proof sheet was clear, and there was also a CD of the scanned negs which I did not expect. Will use A&I again. (BTW - postage for one 24 exp roll was $)

Comments about A&I Develop + Prints Mailer for 35mm Print Film:

This definitely brings back fond memories of a simpler time when we would put our film in a mailer and wait a couple of weeks to see the results. I was very pleased with the results - sharp, consistent prints. The negatives were placed in a plastic archival sleeve (which went as-is into a 3-ring binder). The prints/negatives were carefully packed in an envelope, encased in a plastic bag, and sandwiched in cardboard to prevent anything from being folded/damaged. The bonus was that it also came back with a proof print and a CD of high quality scans (3088x2048). I was amazed at the quality of the scans - they were so sharp that at first glance I thought these were shots from my DSLR. Will definitely be ordering more mailers in the future. Very nice service for those of us who aren't fortunate enough to have any good film-capable labs nearby. Well worth the wait!

Comments about A&I Develop + Prints Mailer for 35mm Print Film:

It took over a month to get back my pictures. I had to call up the company. The phone number on my mailer receipt was wrong, so I had to find them online. When I contacted the company, a woman explained that they moved, but B&H still had the old mailers. The company was in the process of sending new mailers to B&H. She then mentioned that the post office may take a couple of months to get the film to them. She took my phone number and said someone would call when they received the film. In about 2 days, I received a call and the woman told me they would put my order on rush. I received my pictures shortly afterward. The company did a great job with processing, but I wouldn't recommend them if a person is in a hurry to get their pictures. I am hoping that the processing will be quicker with mailers that have the correct address.

A&I does quality work. I trust them to develop and print Kodak Ektar 100, various Kodak black and white films, and Ilford Pan F+. The rating is four stars instead of five because lately turn-around time has been rather slow. One note: The envelopes say that two stamps are required. At this time (1/31/2013), they ought to be $1.00 stamps.

The prints look fine, but I when I scan the negatives many of them have so many scratches that I have quit bothering. It sometimes takes me over an hour to clean up a negative using Photoshop. I don't seem to have this problem with this companies when they process slides.

Well, no matter how good the prints are, the service is terrible. I shipped film from San Francisco, CA (to Los Angeles, CA) a month ago. It was hard to reach them over the phone. Emails are also not returned. Finally I talked with someone and he said that they just got the film. It is hard to believe that mail from SF to LA takes a month to deliver. Overall it seems like they simply don't care.
From my experience: I sent five rolls. Once they returned prints in one week, two times - in two weeks, and the last two times - in more than a month. Don't know what to expect with the next roll.

The mailer was slow to come back.. 1st class mail both ways to/from California. I sent in two, but I think they lost one of them.

The scans were super-clean though, better than anything I've done with my scanner (although I'm new to film scanning). Prints were sufficiently OK as well.

I would be OK with this service for personal projects, but not for professional work... I would rather mail with insurance and via a faster method etc.

Sent 4 rolls of negative film to A&I. About 10 days later I received incredibly packaged wonderful prints and a CD with scans of all the prints (with exposure correction!) which I didn't expect. Saved me a lot of time scanning them myself. As long as A&I is around, I will be sending my film to them.

Comments about A&I Develop + Prints Mailer for 35mm Print Film:

It has been quite a few years since I last sent color print film to A&I. (Generally they have been developing color slide film and several kinds of b&w print film for me.) I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the results.

The pictures are sharp, maybe a little bright (although it is hard to say, since I have never used the film previously and the sun came close to glaring that day), and on the whole pleasing.

I will send more color print film to A&I, without a doubt.

I also appreciate the packaging in which the photos were returned: a stiff mailer within which there was a folded cardboard protector. The prints, negatives, and CD were enclosed in heavy plastic. I am one happy customer!

Comments about A&I Develop + Prints Mailer for 35mm Print Film:

I normally get film developed mostly to scan, color myself and then upload to flickr. A lot of times I've been impatient and taken my film to Walgreens, the prints are sub-par and the film looks like it has been developed in some old and busted chemistry. I also use a semi-pro / enthusiast photo lab in town, and recently all the negs are coming back with tons of scratches and little specs. The pro labs in San Francisco are too expensive.

As a result, I think I'm going to stick to these A&I mailers that I've been using on and off for several years. The negatives are always really clean and look like they have gone through good chemistry and the prints look great to me.

I agree with the other negative reviews. My prints weren't the best and I'm less than happy. Blue skies in my photos were blotchy. My local pharmacy seems to provide better prints. I was hoping to get better prints for this price. [...] I'll use up the mailers I purchased but, I probably won't use these specific mailers again.

All you have to do is drop it in the bag and fill out the form and your film is developed. They might even put your negs on a dvd or online where you can download it if you don't have dialup access to the internet. How simple is that?

The instructions and mailing process for developing were OK, but the quality of the photos upon their return were not very good at all. Not sure why, but this has to be among the worst film quality developing of my photos in a long time. Not willing to try this again.

My jaw dropped when I received the prints from the A&I mailer. I've used Portra 160NC many times in the past, and always had it developed locally. I don't know what A & I does differently, but the prints were truly beautiful. I will continue to purchase these mailers for all of my color film. B&H has a very good price on these, as well--if you compare to buying the mailers directly from A&I. Highly recommended!
