A 1x power finderscope designed so you can point the telescope while scanning the sky with both eyes, the Celestron star pointer makes finding objects easy!
A mirror lens projects the image of a LED illuminated pinpoint into the line of sight, providing you with a red dot of light to center on the object you want to view. It is something like having a laser pointer that reaches into the sky, greatly simplifies finding objects.
The brightness level is adjustable, and the star pointer can be used during daytime observing as well. It is also a handy guide when using binoculars. Attaches to any telescope easily.

I use this with a barn-door tracking mount that I built for astro photography. This scope helps me align my tracking mount with the celestial north pole.

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
I bought a NexStar 4SE that did not have a finderscope - and order this item as a replacement.
Due to low profile of the mounting bracket this is very steady unit, with adjustment knobs to align it before use.
Red dot is bright enough to be seen during daytime for alignment purposes.
My only quibble is the minimum setting for this red dot being a bit too bright.
I feel that my night vision is compromised a bit during viewing session due to the bright red dot even though I have it set on minimum setting.

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
I bought it to replace a standard 6x30mm finder scope on my 6" Short Tube reflector Telescope.I had to drill an extra hole, which was pretty easy. I wear glasses,so the great thing about this style of laser finderscope is you use both eyes to allign it to your object. You don't have to be perfectly centered behind it, just move around till you see the red dot and guide it over your object and you are done.Only negative about it is that the dot is a little big,but I can find stars much quicker now with this style of finder scope. The size is great too, since I can leave it attach when I store or transport my scope,is like 33% the height of my old finderschope and like 33% shorther also.Great addition for reasonable price.

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
1 Month ago my finder scope broke on my Celestron Astromaster 114 EQ. The original scope was never very good anyway. I tried rewiring the old one, but it still wouldn't work. I was without a finder scope for a while. It took me over an hour to find Saturn and about half of that for the moon. I went to B&H a couple of weeks ago just to look at a new SCT. While I was there I saw the finder scope in the cabinet and purchased it. The store was amazing, just ordering a little finder scope. It went through all of the conveyor belts and waited for us while we looked at camera lenses. We finally went up and purchased the finder scope. When I got home I opened it and installed it. I ended up hot gluing it because it was fast and sturdy enough for my needs. I brought the scope out that same night and aligned it. I aligned it in about 2 minutes and I could position the scope onto Saturn in a matter of seconds. I did have an issue. My mounting bracket wasn't cut out right (factory error) and the bracket wouldn't slide onto the mount. My solution was to just super glue the bracket to the finder scope. Overall it is a great finder scope which will defiantly make using your scope more efficient. B&H Was also a great retailer and I plan to buy my next scope there.Clear Skies

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
Added it to a Celestron Astromaster 114eq. I had to unscrew the original star finder (which is exceptionally poor). After using double sided tape to stick it to the telescope, it was very easy to find the stars & planets that my eyes could see, but that I couldn't find using the scope and original star finder. An excellent upgrade!

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
Thee is good control of vertical and lateral adjustment. Directionality is good. That is, how effective aiming is as you're looking through it. Although the brightness is adjustable, it can't be made dim enough for fainter objects(in my opinion). There does seem to be a very small rainbow-ing effect through the lens though.

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
Works okay, but with the single dot it can cover the object you're trying to find. Simple and easy to use. Very good value for the money.

Comments about Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope:
We really like the variable intensity, lighted dot which works much better than trying to place black cross hairs on a star in the dark. Mounting the device was a good grandfather-grandson project once the appropriate screws were acquired. [...] I believe it is good value for the money.
