I will try to make this short. ( simply because I have a lot to say)

    * This thing is a beast (very well built)
    * Amazing boom
    * the leveling leg is simply genius ( helps with the counter weights)

I hesitated to buy this boom but when I finally made the purchase I was completly satisfied and it exceeded my expedations. everyone seems to say its heavy, but realistically, it isnt as heavy as people say. Although its 33 lbs (15kg) it feels like your carrying a 45lbs dumbell from the gym ( if you got muscles - its not bad at all- wheels n carrying bag make it easy to move around- no included). its not convenient for long trips but if you have a car and you can park close to your shoot location, then its fine( unless u have a carrying bag)

I`d highly recommend buying the wheels to easily move it & a carrying bag with wheels to facilitate location shoots ( look at my recommendations)

I was adviced to get an avenger e200 stand adapter to put on the tip but its not necesarry because one already comes built in

If your tired of bad boom stands and want something you can grow with and practically boom anything( this is the way to go- no doubts)- easy to adjust your modifier once boom ( turn, swivel, extend etc..)

the versatility is simply amazing. Love this product- one of my best purchases. I`m using it with the Elinchrom rotalux 39 and profoto acute 2 d/4 head. I`d also recommend using sandbags althought not always necessary

I would not buy this boom stand again. This is a sturdy boom stand. The braking wheels are the best I've used. They hold firm and are easily locked and unlocked. It has only one fault; however, it's a huge flaw in the design. One has to push in the handle to change the boom. And to push it in takes two hands. One to turn the handle and push in, and the other to push in and hold. Without using the second hand, the teeth don't grab effectively. Therefore, I always need an assistant to change the position of boom. I don't understand why the handle was designed to be pushed in. The design would have been flawless, if all one had to do was to turn the handle. Frankly, I am surprised that more people aren't complaining about the difficulty in using this stand. Only one reviewer has mentioned it.

This boom stand is beefy and rock solid. 600Watt monolight and a 22" beauty dish won't even come close to stressing this unit. Heavy enough to seldom needing a counterweight/sandbag.

This is one seriously hefty stand. But one the bolts holding the legs on was broken when I received it. Luckily it was a very standard size bolt, so I just popped another one on. I wish the stand fit together a little more tightly, but I think for most peoples use it is perfectly good.

Comments about Avenger A4050CS 16.4' Steel Boom Stand 50 (Chrome-plated):

Love this stand. use it as a boom or as a normal heavy duty stand. I use this for hanging a large octobox on a b1600 Alien bee head up to 13' high.

I had tried the bogen/manfrotto booms (not the "super boom" but the smaller one)and they wouldn't go high enough and were just not sturdy enough to safely support that heavy box and head. This stand does it with no problem.

It is big and *heavy* and my studio space is not huge but for a light I don't move much it is perfect.

I got it with the a900N wheel set easy movement and E700 drop-down pin that give extra room for angling the light source.

I use this Stand for in Studio Shoots and sometimes on location. It holds my D1 Strobe and a 4x6 light modifier with no problem. Its the best stand I own.
Whats great is how absolutely rugged it is.
Only drawback is it is HEAVY!
I would not buy this without the optional casters.
With the wheels on it it is highly mobile in a studio environment.

I have the awesome privilege to say that I've owned this stand now for over a year and THIS STAND IS DOPE! It's a heavy stand indeed; you'll need either an assistant or multiple trips but it's well worth it. Ignore the negative reviews you read here, this stand is easy to setup by just one person if you just spend a minute to look at the mechanics & common sense of how it works/converts from a stand to a boom. duh. The only regret I have is not buying casters for it when I bought it which is why i'm back here today. holla from PDX!

This boom screams ruggedness, Made in Italy, you will never worry about it holding overhead light securely. It just looks expensive! Amazing how it goes from a 8"x8"x66" box, to super structure. Mounted a five light, 18" diffusser with 16" clip on barn doors with easy. This boom in your studio will have your customers impressed, great chrome! The adjustable leg just recently allowed me to jump a raised fireplace hearth. You can span 7 feet to the middle of 6+folks across photo, (with counter weight not provided). You might be intimidated but you will not be disapointed, this boom will last forever.

everything about this stand is SOLID! there is nothing plastic, or flimsy about this boom stand. i can safely boom an Elinchrom BXRI 500 with a 27" beauty dish, worry free! although its never a good idea to boom something without a counterweight or an anchor, iv tested it without either, and it still wouldn't budge! the knobs on this thing are MANLY! it takes alittle muscle to turn/tighten them. it also takes alittle muscle to lug this thing around on location, but totally worth it when your up against a windy day. overall, i love this thing! its probably my favorite piece of equipment in my studio cuz of its versatility, quality, and beauty. everyone looking for a SOLID boom stand to do it all, this is the one.

I just recently got this product and I am in love with it already. Yes it is heavy to lug around but its worth the weight and money I spent on it. Ive attached a strobe with a beauty dish, a strobe with a 7ft octobox and the boom did not flinch. Of course I have a counter weight on the boom but honestly, this thing is so sturdy, very little weight was needed. Its great for lighting beauty shots, portraits, fashion. Overall its one of the best pieces of equipment Ive bought in a while.

I just purchased the Avenger Boom Stand after months of debate over how much I should spend on heavy duty stands, I was close to purchasing a set of C-stands, but I knew I really wanted a heavy duty boom. I was shocked by the price of this product, its a chunnk of cash BUT its very reasonable for what you get. Its the sturdiest, most well built peice of gear I own as of now. 300 dollars gets your lighting a good distance in the air, over head, even under sets with the peice of mind that the base its self will keep it planted, then you add a couple sand bags and this thing is a tank with no movement what so ever.

The product is heavy, but who cares, when you know its going to hold your thousand dollar equpiment 16 feet in the air and not blow over with a little touch.

Owned this for several weeks now. Took a while (and a brother-in-law) to figure how the boom works. Now I realize that I neeed the accessory to fit into the female end of the boom or my lights cannot attach - [...] - order yours together. On a positive note is that the boom stand is extremely well made and solid.

I use this stand for supporting small to medium monolights for edge and back lighting of subjects. I also use it for supporting medium to large soft boxes attached to monolights over food shoots. Before purchasing I read a lot of the other reviews that stated that this stand was solid - those reviews are completely accurate. In fact, this has to be the most sturdily constructed and stable boon stand that I've used to date, and I've been a professional Photographer for over 20 years. It is VERY SOLIDLY CONSTRUCTED and VERY WELL DESIGNED - the plus side is stability, the somewhat down side is it is a VERY HEAVY STAND. If I were to ever need an additional Boom stand, this is the item that I will be reaching for.

This is a sturdy light stand. No doubt about that. My only complaint, but it is significant, is that one has to push the handle in to tighten to lock the boom in place from standing upright to bending 90 degress. It would work so much better if one could just turn the handle without pressing.

This boom stand is great for large softboxes. Having used smaller boom stands that are unstable and your afraid the whole thing will topple over, this thing is like the Rock of Gibraltar. I like big beefy stuff and this is it.

This stand is big and solid. The safety device that prevents the boom from falling over to the horizontal is well engineered and makes sure that moving the section from upright stand to horizontal boom is a deliberate one.

I have only used this a few times so far but I must say I am beyond impressed with it's build and quality. I've used it in studio with Alienbees strobes with beauty dish & medium softbox so far and it hasn't budged! I haven't even had to weight it down yet. It is HEAVY though and awkward to move once setup with a light, so I would suggest getting the optional wheels for safety.

This stand meets every need that I have, from studio to on site. It is sturdy in the least, and it is overly well designed. It is money well spent. You won't need to worry about stability.

The base is broad; so if you are petite, you will need so help to set up.

It is my best stand yet.
