Westcott 40° Egg Crate for Strip Bank (12 x 36")
This is a 40° "egg crate" grid for the Westcott 12x36" strip bank softbox.
Grids are essential accessories for any lighting system. A grid alters the shape and intensity of the light output from your softbox when it is mounted on a light head. Consider a grid as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife, or chisel.
"Egg crates" are rigid, or semi-rigid. Use of an "egg crate" will result in a narrower spread of light. The spread of light will be determined by the density of the honeycomb mesh, and the distance of the subject from the light.

I purchased this for of the 12X36 westcott strip bank. It's durable But flimsy, tricky to attach.
Once in place the entire setup seems very rugged, good quality. I give it four stars because this item is very pricey compared to the stripbank itself. There's about 3 to 6 dollars of material. Go figure

I have had the strip box for some time, but even that sometimes had too much spread. The grid really helps the light fall-off and concentrates the light. I use this with a Nikon SB_800 and it does require a bit of a boost to compensate for some light loss, but no too much. I love it.
