Despite the increasing popularity of powered speakers, many speakers and headphones still require external amplification. The RA500 is designed to provide more power and better performance, at a lower overall cost per watt than the earlier RA100. As a result, it can more closely match the power needs of virtually any passive speaker or studio monitor, and provides a crisp, clean signal for outstanding performance and extended speaker life.

Designed for studio use, the RA500 amp incorporates advanced convection cooling for heat dissipation. The result is long, stable operation unaffected by heat-related complications, and without the added distraction and annoyance of fan cooling. This eliminates the frustration of trying to hear quieter details due to noisy amp performance.

      Comments about Alesis RA500 Amplifier:

Although I'd love to be able to spend tens of thousands for golden ear equipment, the budget is never going to allow it. I needed a new power amp for my main two-channel music system and wasn't willing to put up with the wimpy performance and ridiculous prices of the entry-level "good stuff". After a lot of research I decided to get the RA500. Here's why:. It puts out a real and clean 125 watts RMS into 8 ohms from 20 to 20,000 Hz.. For the price it has a nice 200 damping factor that provides good control of woofers.. The build quality is robust with discrete components on separate amp boards, heavy-duty heat sinks, a big transformer and respectably large capacitors, and no noisy cooling fan. . It has output metering LEDs, clipping indicators, and level pots to adjust power output to prevent clipping. How does it sound? Just as it should: it is completely invisible. Background noise is non existent. Music is clean at any volume and it's punchy but never harsh when cranked up.I absolutely love this amp. For my needs it has the best value proposition I've been able to find.

        Comments about Alesis RA500 Amplifier:

Certainly gives the power I need to push my Tannoy reference speakers. Clarity is great with a nearly inaudible noise floor.
I had one of these that served me well for many years until the left channel went out. Can't loose for the price, warranty and free shipping!
There is no fan (no noise) and that was important for my project studio. I use it to mix backing tracks for live performance and CDs, and to produce corporate videos with music and voiceovers.

          Comments about Alesis RA500 Amplifier:

I own 4 of these in a 7.1 surround system using 2 matched speakers as a center. They are powering definitive technologies studiomonitor 350's on all channels except mains, they are Studiomonitor 450's the amps sound great when warmed up. There is a slight hum when initial power up. The room these are in is a little colder than the rest I the house 50-60 degrees but one the transistors warm the heat sinks up this noise goes away. Not a big problem but why I chose 4 stars. One side note is that the input sensivity on the unbalanced RCA inputs is 335mv not the 1.35v or so that the balanced inputs require. Great for home preamps with less voltage.
