Sturdy metal. Easy to set up with photoflex octodome 3'. Connects to light stand easily too. I needed a photoflex adjustable shoe mount to xs-litedome connector to use with my nikon sb-600 flash.

Im a commercial photographer. Im using this ring with a small octabank. Had to get it because the box needed 8 wands. This ring will do the job no problem. It is however, heavy I think. Seems like it is about 2 guage sizes to big. I will buy another one if I need it. The weight is just a minor thing, A good idea if you are using this with a quarter twenty adapter with a speed light, find the socket and mark it with a red sharpie or something. [...]

Comments about Photoflex Speed Ring - Basic Ring Only:
The speedring basic is required if you purchase "ala-carte" octodome softboxes from Photoflex.
These rings have no attachment points for mono lights and are designed to be used with flashes such as the Canon 580EXII.
Looking like plastic the first time I unpacked it from it's box, I was proved wrong once it was picked up.
Made of durable metal, the speedring feels like it can handle abuse and still work like a charm even after years of use.
