Sigma Wide Angle 28mm f/1.8 (D) EX Aspherical DG DF Macro Autofocus Lens for Sony Alpha & Minolta Maxxum Series USA

You Pay: $449.00

This 28mm lens has a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture, with macro-focusing capability. It features minimum focusing, down to 7.9" with a reproduction ratio of 1:2.9). The 9-bladed aperture diaphragm obtains beautiful out of focus images. It incorporates the floating focus system and the use of two aspherical lens elements to minimize distortion, spherical aberration and astigmatism. The lens incorporates minimum vignetting optical construction in order to obtain adequate peripheral brightness with open aperture. Internal focus system of the lens eliminates front lens rotation, thus allowing the use of a perfect hood and easy use of polarizing filters. The lens also incorporates a dual-focus mechanism. It is easy to hold the lens, since focusing ring does not rotate during autofocus, yet provides adequate torque of the focusing ring during manual focusing. The lens materials used in this new lens are lead and arsenic free ecological glass.

Comments about Sigma 28mm f/1.8 (D) EX Aspherical DG DF Macro AF Lens:

I am an amateur photographer with plans to go "pro" on the side in the near future. I have a couple of other lenses that I use frequently, but I really wanted to take more indoor shots that had more in the frame. SO far...I love this lens. I'll need to play around with it more. But, I've found it to be a great macro lens in low light surroundings.

Comments about Sigma 28mm f/1.8 (D) EX Aspherical DG DF Macro AF Lens:

This lens is fast and great for use in low-light situations. At large apertures, bokeh is very pleasing and sharpness is good. It focuses very close and is an excellent macro lens. Because the focal length with sensor crop factor is 42mm, it's a good walking around lens for daily use. Overall image quality is very good, but not as good as the Sony SAL-5014 50mm/1.4 lens. Build quality is also very good. The focusing ring has a clutch which can be disengaged when using autofocus, which makes it a bit easier to hold. However, the lens is bulky, especially with the lens hood attached. And the filter size is large, 77mm as I recall. This means that filters are more expensive.

Comments about Sigma 28mm f/1.8 (D) EX Aspherical DG DF Macro AF Lens:

this is for the need of fast lens for a close shot under dark environment and it gives a great result, clear and less distortion.

with my Sony A700, i could have fast auto focus and shutter speed with quite good result even at the maximum aperture.

when it was delivered. it had focus problem focusing at the behind of the object aimed. so, i had to focus manually but not a problem with wide, clear and bright viewfinder.

i did not have time to get a focus calibration service in the States due to my tight and short schedule. i requested a service to the local service station in Korea and my request is accepted with the 1 year internation warranty card included in the delivery package.

i feel happy with this lens and feel this is one of a nicer lens with affordable price.
