The Heliopan 72-77mm Step-Up Ring is a reliable and economical way to use filters. For example, a 49-52mm Step-Up ring would allow you to use 52mm filters on lenses with a 49mm front filter thread size.
Note! Heliopan also produces Step-Down Rings, which allow smaller sized filters to be used on lenses with larger front filter thread sizes. For example, a 52-49mm Step-Down Ring would allow a 49mm filter to be used on a lens with a front filter thread size of 52mm. Care must be taken using Step-Down rings in order to avoid vignetting.

Works, is durable. I bought this because my inexpensive, aluminum Cavision step-up would lock up with the filter. I thought buying brass would help deter this. I used it with a Heliopan brass ND filter and also with a B&W brass Polarizer--it occurred with both. It is a nice product, just not for the money. Save your cash, buy a spare $10< stepup ring. These steups never seem to stick to the camera so you can use the spare when you want to change filters.

I like the feel of the brass construction on Heliopan filters and step-up rings. They seem less prone to seizing too. If you want the best, this is it.

The Heliopans are on the more expensive side but worth it because of the brass construction. You won't need to replace it anytime soon.

Comments about Heliopan 72-77mm Step-up Ring #141:
I've decided to standardize on 77mm filters going forward. That way I need to buy only one of each color/type. I have no plans to buy or use any lens using filters larger than 77mm. I'll use step-up rings to adapt the filters to those lenses I use that use smaller diameter filters. this Step-up ring is a quality item and I've rated it at '5' for that reason.
Comments about Heliopan 72-77mm Step-up Ring #141:
I use this Step up ring to fit a 77mm Singh Ray variable ND filter onto my 72mm prime lenses. It works and is nice and smooth. It is a bit pricey for something so simple.

extremely solid and well made.
the only things I neglected to think about were:
1) you, obviously, need a new lens cap :)
and
2) the shrouds that come with your lens will not easily fit over the new, wider, mouth.
so, you need to buy both of these to fit a 77 mm mouth... again, obviously :)

Well made of quality materials and best of all it doesn't stick to my other filters when changing from one filter to another.

Comments about Heliopan 72-77mm Step-up Ring #141:
It's made from good materials and well machined. I've used low end reducers before and ended up with them 'bonded' to the filters. This one is easy to mount and remove without tools, beating of colorful language. I got it to fit a 77mm polarizer to a smaller lens- it works perfectly. I should have ordered and extra 77mm lens cap for use while the polarizer is mounted.

This step-up ring is more expensive than others, but since it is brass, it won't bind and get stuck on my lens or filter. I use a Vari ND filter, and don't want to buy 2, so this is perfect for me.

This is a well made adaptor ring that works smooth, doesn't bind, and allows me to use expensive, but rarely use filters on more than one lens size.
