Sekonic's compact flash and ambient meter provides great freedom combined with high precision. The Sekonic L-358 Flash Master features flash/ambient analyzing in all flash modes, and an optional plug-in internal radio transmitter module (B&H code: SERTM) that eliminates the need for cord connections while measuring flash up to 100 feet away (when flash units are used with compatible radio receivers).
With options such as shutter speeds and apertures selectable in 1, 1/2 or 1/3 stop increments the L-358 makes operation most efficient by matching the displayed f/stop and shutter speed values to the photographer's camera. Additional features include all weather design, nine memory banks, a retractable lumisphere, included Lumigrid attachment for reflected metering and large cool-blue electro-luminescent backlit LCD.
The slim L-358 is ideal for professional photographers, cinematographers, and dedicated enthusiasts in the studio, on location or anywhere.
Important
To comply with local broadcast regulations, Sekonic wireless systems sold in the various markets around the world are designed to operate at different frequencies. When purchasing and/or installing a transmitter module or using the meter with a receiver, be sure that the meter, module and receiver are designed to be used in your location and use the same frequency.
The FCC designation indicates the meter and module are designed for operation in the USA/North American market. Frequencies: CH 1 to 16: 344.0 MHz; CH 17 to 32: 346.5 to 354.0MHz
The CE designation indicates the meter and module are designed for operation in European countries. Frequencies: CH 1 to 16: 433.62 MHz; CH 17 to 32: 434.22MHz
When purchasing and/or installing a transmitter module or using the meter with a receiver, be sure that the meter, module and receiver are designed to be used in your location and use the same frequency.
The wireless flash triggering system used in Sekonic meters consists of two parts that are designed to be used together and operate only at a specific frequency. Do not install a CE marked module into an FCC marked meter or FCC marked module into a CE marked meter as this will produce a unit that is not compatible with either frequency.

The afternoon was dim and stormy as I entered the soundless hall. There before me was a scene of such horror that I was unable to stifle a scream. Dim recesses and hollows which had never have seen the day, (and perhaps never should) Blinding lights which could only have been summoned from the depths of hell.
I staggered backwards as the piteous inhabitants looked upon me with fear and disdain, knowing full well what I had come to do. My anguished cry had alerted them to the abomination before them and they had now begun to whimper and cry out for help. They staggered into a corner, fearful, cowering, as my shrill voice declared "fear not pathetic creatures of the night, I shall redeem you!" I reached into my breast pocket, and in my hand I held a device of gleaming silver. Some of the inhabitants tried to run. "Do not test my patience, you will remain still!" They looked upon the device with uncontrollable dread, ignorant of it's power in the hands of a master. I plunged forward and held it to their wretched faces.
I gazed in wonder at it's secrets, once hidden, now emblazoned across it's visage.
I held the device high above my fetid brow, and declared to the heavens "f5.6 at a 60th of a second! Begone you devils of darkness and light!" Alas, the truth was too much for my cowering subjects, as they crept into the waiting night. But thanks to my Sekonic L-358, I was able to get some perfectly exposed frames.

I bought this product to use with Pocket Wizards. I couldn't get it to fire my flash units if I was more than 3 feet away.. The flash units were fine as they would flash with my camera from 30 feet away. I'm sure this was just a faulty unit, however I was very disappointed with it. I immediately called B&H and worked out a return and bought the L-758DR[...]So there is a happy ending to the story as the 758 is terrific...

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I've gone years without this tool but secretly wondered what I was missing. Sure you have one in your camera but it isn't near as versatile as a hand held light meter. I can fine tune each of my strobes power individually and know what I'm going to get when I snap the shutter. I think it makes me a better photographer knowing how to control my lights.

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I've wanted a Flash Meter for the longest time. I chose the L-358 over the L-308s for the percentage of Flash to Ambient reading. I do a lot of outdoor Flash portraits and prefer around 30% Flash contribution. This meter makes the calculation for you which is great. It also does a delta of 2 Flashes for indoors which is handy for main and fill adjustments. I also like the option to trigger PocketWizards which I will probably upgrade to shortly as my cheap triggers are sometimes a little erratic.

I was really excited to get this light meter for such a great price BUT I didn't realize it was missing a part until it was too late. I had to order and pay out-of-pocket for the missing Lumigrid because I surpassed the 2-day damaged/missing material deadline.

I use this meter in my home studio. It simplifies my preparation by allowing me to have all my lighting ready to go when the client arrives. It's a little pricey and in my younger days I would not have been able to afford it. I love it and would hate to work without it. Thankyou B&H for the best prices and service you're great.

This is the first light meter that I have ever bought/used ever. I had to get a light meter for a photography class and my Instructor recommended this one. Since I am taking photography seriously, I opted not to get a cheap one. This meter is easy to work and figure out. After reading the manual on how to work it, I was using it in less then 30 minutes! My pictures come out way better with the readings from this meter.

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
Since my Gossen Luna Pro died over a year ago ( it was over 20 yrs old) I've hesitated buying a new meter since my DSLR seem to handle it very well. However I have recently started with some table top set ups and I had no choice but to invest in a new meter. The choices aren't that extensive and it became a choice between features and price. The Sekonic L-358 seemed to fit the bill on both counts. Easy to set up and use. There are some features I probably won't use such as cine but the rest I probably will. It also came with a manual that actually is usable, something far to lacking in other products. I've only had this about a week but I am exceptionally pleased with it and it's much easier to use than my old Luna Pro. Expensive, yes, but worth the bucks.

I'm an advanced novice photographer. This is the first light meter I've owned. I use it for medium-format film photography and also with my 5d Mark III for off-camera lighting.
The good:
Works well in combination with the RT32. It's a great tool to have if you can afford it. Getting a proper exposure saves your file and your time.
The not so good:
The build quality is a little disappointing- it feels light and cheap in the hand. The dials/set-up isn't the the most efficient either, but it does its job.
I'd recommend trying it before you buy it to make sure you're satisfied with the build quality and set-up. For what I use it for, I'm pleased.

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I got this meter primarily to replace a much older meter used with my (ancient) Mamiya RB67 Pro S system. My meter I had purchased in the late 70s finally retired. I also use it as a backup for my D4s meter, though I have yet to find a place where that meter failed to give an accurate reading for any reason other than my stupidity.
I have found the meter to be extremely accurate, though I must admit I use this older camera mostly for landscape and product pictures and thus the range of situations I have employed it in is limited. Still with film, you don't have the luxury of just looking at a shot and making adjustments on the fly - an accurate meter is a must; especially in landscapes where you only have the best light for a few minutes. This meter does a great job and I am very pleased. Highly recommended.

I use this product to measure all my light sources when I'm photographing. It's helped me get a lot of my best shots lately and it's easy to use and understand! It comes with a case so you don't have to worry about damaging it when not in use, and it also comes with an extra cap to measure different types of lighting! I never realized what I was missing until I started using this light meter! You can measure your light and trigger a flash from a distance as well. The only down side is that you cant move as far away as you could with other products, but for the price this is an amazing product and I will never need another one!

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I use this with the optional Pocket Wizard transmitter to trigger remote flashes as well as for incident ambient light measurements. This method of measuring flash exposures is very convenient and much faster than trial and error. Reflected light measurements using the camera's built-in exposure meter can be misleading, especially when there is high contrast between subject and background. Of course it is possible to chimp and compensate, but measuring incident light is usually an easier and sometimes a faster way to nail the exposure.
