Hoya 46mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter

You Pay: $34.95

Circular Polarizer - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

NOTE: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems).

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to remove haze from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance

Used this on a Sigma 19mm Sony e-mount lens to take pix in the Bahamas. Bright sun with a lot of glare. It did the trick!

Comments about Hoya 46mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

I wanted a polarizer to accentuate clouds and minimize surface reflections. This filter certainly does that. I live at 7200' and the potential for the dramatic atmospheric affects is large, thus this filter. The only drawback I can imagine w/this filter would be if it is mounted on an optical viewfinder camera, for it is rather dark, but since I use it w/a 4/3 Panny system that matters not. For me it was a good investment.

Comments about Hoya 46mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

Pros: the filter does what it should do, blue skies become much better, reflected light is cut off. I use it on Pansonic TM700. I shoot mainly with this filter.

Cons: the filter is somewhat thick, on my Panasonic TM700 I cannot use it together with any other filter, otherwise some shadow angles appear in the image.

gets the glare out - needs a cap

Comments about Hoya 46mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

Seems to help the glare under certain conditions, but because the filter goes on the outside of the built in lense cover on my the GZ-HM400 HD Everio Memory Camera Camcorder (JVC), it needs its own, not included, lense cap to remain protected.

I bought to use on my new JVC GY-HM100U and works perfectly! I can control the excess of shines and reflexive bright, polarizing my footage just the way I want to... The Hoya's filter is very durable... excellent.
