Comments about Davis & Sanford Minipod3 Tabletop Tripod:

this tripod smells bad... literally. the rubber feet give off a strong industrial chemical odor of cheap rubber that was not cured properly. It does not seem to be an inoffensive 'new product smell' that will go away, but instead it is a strong and offensive smell that seems like it will stay with it for the life of the product.

unfortunately the ballhead mount only has about 5 degrees of freedom in any direction, except for if you rotate the mount assembly it has a slot cutout that gives it up to 90 degrees of tilt in one plane only... The end result is that you can achieve the same full range of motion as you could with a real ballhead mount, unfortunately the rotation of the hybrid mount assembly does not have the smooth motion that you get with the adjustment of a ballhead it's self... with a real ballhead mount you can go directly to whatever orientation you want, however with this hybrid assembly you constantly hit against the edge of the slot so you have to stop and rotate the mount assembly until the slot is pointed in the direction you want to move it to... it kind of sticks and jams up a lot... it is not intuitive... this is a hybrid mount that really does not work as well as a true ballhead mount.

the legs don't spread out as far as I would like, so at full extension, the assembly is not as stable as I would like, meaning it will wobble and shake more than it would if I could spread the legs out more.

I like the all metal construction, it seems to be pretty durable. unfortunately, the fact that I can't adjust the hybrid ballhead assembly easily or smoothly means that I can't really use this all that much. I need a ballhead mount that allows me to adjust my camera without the distraction of feeling like I am in a losing battle with a poorly designed machine. I want to focus my energy and effort on more creative things than this.

I did pull the rubber feet out so the smell is gone, but now it doesn't have rubber feet so it would scratch some surfaces, if I was going to use it, which I'm not... so *shrug*

Comments about Davis & Sanford Minipod3 Tabletop Tripod:

Says it can handle 2.5lbs, but would only hold up my Fujifilm S1Pro if the lens was over one of the legs.

The size is perfect to keep in a camera bag at all times.

Comments about Davis & Sanford Minipod3 Tabletop Tripod:

Not recommended as it's too cheap. Buy a little larger one which you can manipulate a bit. Cheaper construction than I thought in beforehand, should cost[$]Disappointment from Davis and Sanford.
