    A Pretty Good Product

Comments about Hoya 72mm Screw-In Rubber Zoom Lens Hood for 35mm to 200mm Lenses:

I bought this hood to use with a Nikon 28-200/3.5-5.6 D AF zoom lens I just purchased. My purpose in buying the lens was to use it as a "walk about lens" and so my goal was to keep things simple, compact, and resistant to a "knock" now and then. This does it. I can leave it on the lens and still fit everything in the camera case so I have a minimal amount of fuss as I move around.

I did a little bit of experimenting when I got this hood to see if there were any problems. There were not. At the widest angle lens setting (28mm) I could see the hood in one corner of the image but the hood was easily nudged aside so the image was clean. Since the hood is flexible (rubber) one does need to be aware of this but,for me, this is a small price to pay to have a hood for this "walkabout purpose".

I use my other lenses when I seek perfection. I use this setup for casual photography and this hood definitely works for that purpose.

Comments about Hoya 72mm Screw-In Rubber Zoom Lens Hood for 35mm to 200mm Lenses:

This lens hood was a precise fit on the Minolta zoom lens for which it was purchased. The quality is very good and it can be collapsed and extended very easily. With the lens set for 200mm both the viewfinder and the image are free of any image distortion or encroachment of the lens hood when fully extended.

Comments about Hoya 72mm Screw-In Rubber Zoom Lens Hood for 35mm to 200mm Lenses:

I got this for a telephoto lens, and it works well as a hood, but there are no front threads, and it's very hard to get a 72mm lens cap to stay on it.

Comments about Hoya 72mm Screw-In Rubber Zoom Lens Hood for 35mm to 200mm Lenses:

Wanted to use this on a 35mm Zeiss lens, but the lens cap wouldn't fit onto the filter with this rubber lens hood on. The 77mm Hama rubber ones I bought for other lenses have no problem with the lens caps fitting. The Hama also has threads on the inside of the rubber hood so that you can screw a filter into the rubber piece if you want to without taking off the hood to do it. This Hoya does not allow that. But who cares about threads and lens caps not fitting since it came out of the box half way detached from the metal ring that screws onto the camera or filter. Sending it back.

I bought this to use with a Nikon Coolpix P7100, extension tube, filter holder and 72mm circular polarizer. It unfortunately cuts off a small amount of the corners at the widest angle but works well otherwise.

Fit on the Nikon lens was perfect. The lens has a larger than normal face and I was constantly bumping the lens edges. The new hood is saving me from cracking filters and the UV lens.

Comments about Hoya 72mm Screw-In Rubber Zoom Lens Hood for 35mm to 200mm Lenses:

I use this product on my 18-77mm Nikon Lens. It helps protect the glass in the lens. When shooting in areas that have glass enclosures such as aquariums it allows me to get the lens close to the glass and blocks out light for a clearer shot. I like the fact that when not in use it folds back on to the lens and screws into my other filters.
