Product Highlights
  • Absorbs Ultraviolet Light
  • Reduces Bluish Cast of Daylight
  • General Protective Filter
  • SH-PMC 16-Layer Multi-Coating
  • Brass Ring Construction
  • High Quality Schott Glass

The Heliopan 52mm UV Haze SH-PMC Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The SH-PMC multi-coating provides a total of 16 coatings, 8 per side, for significant reflection reduction (below 0.2%) as well as dust and moisture repellence for easier cleaning.

This filter features a brass mounting ring that is painted matte black to help reduce reflections. High quality Schott glass provides optical clarity and greater contrast to help render scenes with greater fidelity and resolution.

Comments about Heliopan 52mm UV Haze SH-PMC Filter:

I only use Heliopan UV SH-PMC filters on my Canon L lenses. I own about 12 of these exact filters in different sizes. They use Schott glass (Zeiss) and are built like tanks with solid brass rings. They are very low profile (Heliopan calls them "Slim Line") so you will not have any issues on any of your wide angle lenses.

The only issue is related to placing your lens cap over the filter. These filters are so slim (which is very desirable), the Canon factory lens caps do not snap in perfectly. They do lock down adequately and will not fall off, but there is a little gap between the cap and the filter due to the low profile filter rim. As I said, this is not a problem, but it may bother some people. I am much happier Heliopan went for a minimalist approach on their filters. Less is more.

These filters are not inexpensive, especially is you pay for the multi-coated SH-PMC versions, but they are worth the money. You get what you pay for. So true in this case.

Comments about Heliopan 52mm UV Haze SH-PMC Filter:

This Heliopan 52mm filter protects a Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 lens. I wouldn't trust another filter with this classic piece of glass. It is simply perfect. The quality of its construction, the solid feel of attachment and the crystal clear optical glass is amazing.

Comments about Heliopan 52mm UV Haze SH-PMC Filter:

What can you say about a UV filter? As long as it instals easily, protects the lens and doesn't degrade the image... it's perfect. This particular filter SAVED my favorite 50MM 1.4 from a fall effectively ending my filter or no filter debate. I have found Heliopan to be, bar none, the highest quality glass to put between all my Nikkor (and one Tokina) lenses. If you're going to invest in the best lenses you might at well protect them with the best filters.
